Just make sure to follow http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb633169.aspx exactly.

Yes, you can install multiple sites in the same domain. Just no overlapping boundaries.

    Hello,

Multiple site hierarchical structures provide a means of extending and scaling Configuration Manager 2007 support across a wide variety of organizational structures. A single site is the easiest to configure and manage, but there are circumstances in which it is beneficial to set up multiple sites in a hierarchy.

Configuration Manager site hierarchies consists multiple individual sites which are joined into a hierarchy by setting up communication between the sites, using site addresses and senders, to create parent-child reporting structure relationships. This reporting structure determines how data flows between the sites. Because this data flow can significantly affect the efficiency of your site systems, plan the hierarchy before you begin installing Configuration Manager sites.

While the most important considerations when planning for Configuration Manager hierarchies are data flow and ease of administration, it is important during the design phase to consider your need for additional sites. These needs might belong to one of the following categories:

    Network performance with clients
    Number of resources
    Features required by users
    International considerations
    Number of sites
    Corporate structure
    Domain structure

You are fine to go. Just make sure that you specify the sitecode when you are installing clients.

I don't know much details about your hierarchy, but installing two separate sites (I assume here) in the same domain should be ok.  The management of these two sites will be separate though.

    Thanks,

We dont want to link any of the sites wih each other. Each one should server the client available in its site boundaries.
its just the existence of 2 primary site in single domain which would work or not is the question.
we have different boundaries  set for both the Primary server.
Is there any installation procedure to be folowed for installig the 2nd primary site ?

    yes.
we have 2 primary site server insingle domain across two sites
we dont want to link them with eachother.
administration will be carried out individually by the site owner.

No, it's a straight forward process. Just make sure those boundaries are not overlapping.

    Kent,
We already have specified subnets as our boundaries which are not overlapping eachother.
Just wanted to know abt the installation part , if any things needs to be taken care off?

Also do we need to take care of anythign on client side so that client in my subnet doesnt pool to the other server.

    Hi,

It's because you have an upgrade version of Config Mgr. 2007 SP1. Download the correct version and you will get the option to install the primary site.

    Hi,

I have a similar situation as nits231976 Users MedalsUsers MedalsUsers Medals. We have setup an additional primary server to a remote site within a single domain which are not linked togeather.

Administration will be carried out individually by the site owner.

Site server at my end works allright.I extended the AD schema earlier.
The site owner at the second site has a primary server already installed but is unable to discover systems.
Perhaps he is not able to publish information to the Active directory which is common for both the sites being a single domain.

Do I need to extend the schema back for the other primary server as well in my ADS ?

    Thanks,

    Shireesh

The schema only has to be extended once per forest and has nothing to do with discovery. IOW: discovery also works without having the schema extended.
Can you add details to "but is unable to discover systems"? Which discovery method? Errors in the logs?

The other site has a different site code and has specified his active directory site name in boundaries on his primary server.
we both use the same user account for 'Network Access Account' and 'Client Push Installation'

Perhaps due to permissions on the system container for the remote server.I'll verify and update.
