QuestionError Codes 11750, 11751, 11756 and Failed Updates Installation

    Hi All,

     

    We are deploying Windows XP Service PAck 3 using SCCM Software Update but there are some computers where Updates are not installed Successfully. Following is the list of errors that we come across during this SP 3 patch Deployment.

     

    The Software Updates - E. Troubleshooting's category report name Troubleshooting 1 - Scan errors shows following error code 11423 with the message as  SCAN FAILEd.

     

     

    While the report name Troubleshooting 2 - Deployment errors shows the error code 11750 with message Updates enforcement job failed for this assignment, error code 11751 with message Updates failures occured during enforcement of this assignment and error code 11756 with message Updates evaluation job completed with failure for this assignment. All the errors mentioned above lead to a single message Failed to install update(s) .

     

    My first questions is why are these updates failing to install . Although we have made sure that we only apply the SP 3 patch to the systems who qualify the prerequisites for SP 3 but still the update is not installing. Is there any way/document to find out what these specific error codes are specifying.

     

    My second question is that many a times the installation of updates do start on computers but it fails due to some unidentified reasons. The problem  with this is that these failed updates deployment keep on running again and again on the computer and hence causing disturbance to the user. I have tried disabling these updates from SCCM server but it has been of no use. The update agent keep on running these updates on the computer and keeps failing. The only solution i have come to find by now is to unsinstall the SCCM client and then install it again.

     

    Is there any way by which we can stop such installation which keep on failing again and again.

     

    Also can anyone tell how much time does it take SCCM clients to send back the status of the installation of updates to the site server as when we check the Deployment States Report after a week or so of Update Enforcement, we still see the status' as Downloading update(s), Installing update(s) etc.

     

    Please if someone has any solution to these problems, do share.
