    Hello,

I created a software update deployment template which I deployed, but it failed to install. Now I want to remove it, so I deleted it from Deployment Mangement, but it still shows on our company's workstations. How can I remove the "Configuration Manager - Available Software Updates" from the system tray?

    I'm using SCCM 2007 R2 SP2.

    Thanks,
    Carolyn

Thank you very much for the suggestions. It turned out there were multiple software update deployment templates that I had to delete, not just one. I didn't notice the others before. The Available Software Updates prompt has gone away on the client workstations.

    Hello Peter,

Thanks for your reply. I have refreshed the policy on the clients and waited several days, but Available Software Updates still appears in the system tray on the workstations.

    Hi Carolyn,

Normally updating the machine policy will remove updates that has been deleted from an advertisment. Can you check this:

    1) Run the report States 1 - Enforcement states for a deployment from the Software Updates - C. Deployment States category. Do you see the deployment in this report?

    2) Can you check the Updatesdeployment.log and see if the Assignment ID is still listed.

Is it for a single computer or all computers you have the problem?

Also, restart the problematic client and check the updatehandler.log to see if any error message.
