QuestionSoftware Updates Scan Cycle using 50% of CPU and 200MB of memory during an initiaed or automatic cycle

    We just upgraded to SC - Configuration Manager on clients and server. We swiched from native wsus to wsus through CM. We are noticiing that when a software updates scan cycle is initiated either automatically or manually, th cpu on our workstations goes to 50% and the memory goes to 200MB used for the svchost.exe process. Using process explorer we were able to pinpoint this to wuaueng.dll using the resources.

    For our workstations that have 1GB of RAM or more this isn't really an issue, but on slower workstations the end user is noticing.

    Is this process/service supposed to use so much resources?

    Hi,

    What's the version of WUA(Windows Update agent) on your client?

    The latest version is 7.4.7600.226.

    If the WUA on your client is not the latest version, please upgrade it and check whether the CPU usage is still high.
