QuestionPatchDownloader.log hasn't recorded information in 7 days

    I was attempting to troubleshoot an issue with updates not downloading from the internet in SCCM when I opened my "PatchDownloader.log" on the site server and noticed that the last records were entered 7 days ago.  I have attempted to download updates during that time so I assume there should be data, does anyone know what caused this or how to correct it?

    When are you seeing this problem? When you are downloading creating patch distribution packages or when you are syncing the patch DB with MS?

    Hi Chris,

    The problem exists in all of the above scenarios.  I have successfully downloaded and applied patches on several occasions most recently last week but my PatchDownloader.log file still doesn't update.

    And you are sure you are updating your Deployment Packages with new patches ? Guess yo have tried the most obvoius once like restarting etc. Havent seen this bahaviour.

    Yes I have rebooted several times over the last 2 weeks and that didn't help.  I ran a update deployment last Friday and the log didn't record any information about it.

    Just an update to my issue, it has been over a month and the patchdownloader.log file still hasn't updated.  I can download security and critical updates but Windows Defender definition file updates fail.  If I need to deploy Defender updates I have to use my WSUS console instead of going thru SCCM.  Is there another log I can check to troubleshoot either of these issues or maybe a way to kick start patchdownloader.log file?

    I had the same problem.  Once the Client is installed it puts the PatchDownloader.log ina  different location.  Just do a search on the hard drives for it and you should find it
