Apple Application Support 1.0.1 Deployment - error 1619
Apple Application Support 1.0.1 Deployment - error 1619
- Hello all,
Forgive the dirty word but I'm seeking advice for Apple Quicktime deployment. Having downloaded the Quicktime.exe and unpacked I see there are a number of contained MSIs plus one exe:
AppleApplicationSupport.msi >renamed to AAS.msi
AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi
Quicktime.msi
QuicktimeINstallerAdmin.exe
First up, I added the package 'From Definition' and deployed the Quicktime.msi (having editted the MSI to remove a line that causes it to fail). Easy peasy. But when running it from my XP SP3 x86 test machine it grumbles about 'Please install Application Support'. So.. I created the Application Support package, add to DP, and Adv as per the Quicktime.msi (and all my others) but it will not install. Execmgr.log provided below. I've bolded the bits that I think might indicate a problem. That said the install works ok when copied locally and run.
I understand 1619 to indicate ERROR_INSTALL_PACKAGE_OPEN_FAILED but since all my other MSIs work am I to assume this one might have been badly written?
Thanks
Nickcx
ps AppleApplicationSupport.msi > AASmsi rename has no impact as it's the same result whether its the original name. Was just trying something..

Add the verbose logging option to the msiexec command-line to produce a detailed log file of the actual msi installation using /l*v %temp%\applejunkmsi.log. This will hopefully shed some light on the issue.
