I have created the package successfully and advertised it successfully. My test client see's the advertised program fine...here is what happens when i try to run it.<br/><br/>1. the 'Program Download Status' window pops up and downloads the program to 99% where it stalls for approx 5min. Then it decides to continue and brings up another 'Program Download Status' window and here it increases 1% every 5-10min.....the package is only 26MB!!!.<br/><br/>What am i missing, this is rediculously convoluted. Since the upgrade i've had users report that their AppV applications are no longer working correctly.<br/><br/>They can still fire up the AppV application via the start menu for example but if they have a document on their machine which they try opening by simply double clicking on it nothing happens. It reports something along the lines &quot;this is not a supported action and is only valid for installed products&quot;.<br/><br/>I've checked the file associations and they all register fine. The challenge at hand is the battle over running SCCM packages that contain VBScripts in this scenario. I have a fleet of laptops to build that are to be set up as workgroup PCs. As part of the build process a number of packages are delivered that contain VB script to customise the SOE. Because the SCCM client is x86 based the scripts are executed in the 32 bit world. If I reference any nativex64 parts of the OS, for example copy files into %SYSTEMROOT%, or make changes in HKLM\.... these are trapped by WOW and are the changes are then made in %Systemroot%\syswow64 and HKLM\Syswow64 sections respectively.<br/> <br/> If I run the exact same scripts from the command line after the OS has built everything s just fine because cscript.exe/wscript.exe are executing in native x64 mode.<br/> <br/> I know the answer must be simple but it just excapes me at the moment. Is it possible to have packages that contain scripts executed by CCMEXEC.EXE*32, as part of an OSD, access native x64 sections of the file system and registry????<br/> <br/> Any help would be great.<br/> <br/> TIA,<br/> <br/> Nathan<hr class="sig">NSuttonWed, 25 Nov 2009 10:36:45 Z2009-11-25T14:39:13Zhttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrswdist/thread/1e85834d-5574-4c16-8e76-48f88b9ac1cahttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrswdist/thread/1e85834d-5574-4c16-8e76-48f88b9ac1caFunflexhttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Profile/en-US/?user=FunflexSMS 2003 SP3 Patch Management ProblemsI have installed SMS2003 Sp3 on a Windows Server2003 SP2 and is running. The distribution package is actually a third party patch (Lotus Notes), where I am using SCCM to deploy the patch. Problem was that some of my users were not logging out of the application and consequently the advertisement would fail. I found that if I rebooted the users PC and then manually &quot;re-ran the advertisement&quot; for that particular PC, then the patch would install without further problems. <br/>I decided that for that type of install I should not be offering the advertisement if the user was logged on, so I changed the advertisement environment section to &quot;program can run - only when no user is logged on&quot;, thinking that would prevent the failures. Problem now is that the advertisement shows a status of &quot;waiting for user condition&quot;. <br/>Any ideas or thoughts are appreciated.Tue, 24 Nov 2009 16:19:27 Z2009-11-24T17:16:44Zhttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrswdist/thread/d4968d3d-cff2-442c-b5c3-3349f41918cdhttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrswdist/thread/d4968d3d-cff2-442c-b5c3-3349f41918cdGiancarlo S.http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Profile/en-US/?user=Giancarlo%20S.CTM job {29D98CDE-407E-49C4-9C64-EAC9CEB9C0B0} suspended - ContentTransferManager.logHi,<br/><br/>I have two identical environments. I use SCCM to deploy an application to a Test and Pre-production environment. Both are in a Mixed Mode, and some servers are in the domain and others in workgroup. The servers that are in workgroup also are placed in a DMZ. In the first environment (Test) everything is working fine and I can deploy the package to all computers successfully. However, in a Pre-production env the computers from DMZ are no downloading the package content. The only difference I could see was the Site name has changed and I had to reconfigure the boundarie, which is based on AD Site. When I noticed the boundarie had a different name, all clients were unable to download the content and when I updated to a new name, the servers in the domain started download the content. <br/><br/>Initially, I started analyzing the server side. All the extensions and hide segments are enabled in the applicationhost.config. I also went through the IIS log files to see if I could find any 401 error. The only information I found there was the code 200, which means nothing is being blocked at IIS. All ports are also opened between the firewalls. I can telnet on port 80 on both sides. I just created a listening on the client side to make sure port 80 is enabled in both directions. <br/><br/>After that, I looked in the log files in the client computer. The first log CAS.log, tells that the content for the package will be downloaded. So, I could not find any error there. In the DataTransferManager.log there is no error as well. But in ContentTransferManager.log says: CTM job {29D98CDE-407E-49C4-9C64-EAC9CEB9C0B0} suspended. In LocationServices.log says: LSGetSLP: Successfully discovered SLP(s) for Lookup LocationServices. <br/><br/>I ran the bitsadmin tool to see if there is any BITS failure but no SCCM jobs are listed in there. I reinstalled the client but the problem still continues. If I go to the CACHE folder, the package folder is created for all packages but the content is empty. For instance, one of the packages has a txt file just for test, and this extension is not supposed to be blocked at all. <br/><br/>Also I checked all details from the link: <a href="http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrswdist/thread/3b820c64-5748-4162-898a-9984fafbdea9">http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrswdist/thread/3b820c64-5748-4162-898a-9984fafbdea9</a>, but no success.<br/><br/>Any help I much appreciate,<br/>Giancarlo Soares.Thu, 19 Nov 2009 00:17:57 Z2009-11-24T15:46:20Zhttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrswdist/thread/fe86740a-c39f-48e4-8e33-cf53a932e211http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrswdist/thread/fe86740a-c39f-48e4-8e33-cf53a932e211JesMathttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Profile/en-US/?user=JesMatQuestion on mandatory advertismentsHi all,<br/><br/>Sorry if this sounds like a simplistic question.<br/><br/>Is there a way to have mandatory advertisments appear in the &quot;Run Advertised Programs&quot; even if it has run or not?<br/><br/>I would like the mandatory advertisement to be (or remain) listed in case the user would need to run the advertisment/program again.<br/><br/>Thanks,<br/>JesMat<br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/>Mon, 23 Nov 2009 21:38:37 Z2009-11-24T13:56:26Zhttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrswdist/thread/5638cdf2-09d3-4750-995e-ae60973e86b8http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrswdist/thread/5638cdf2-09d3-4750-995e-ae60973e86b8veday001http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Profile/en-US/?user=veday001Setup was unable to create the Internet virtual directory CCM_Incoming. wireless and wired at the same time and it's causing problems with software distribution.  Windows 7 is smart enough to use the wired connection unless it's unavailable, at which point it routes all traffic over the wireless connect.  The wired subnet is defined as Fast in SCCM, while the wireless subnet is Slow.  Unfortunately, packages won't install because SCCM is always flagging these machines as being on a slow subnet.  Is there any way to fix this aside from turning off wireless or setting the advertisements to something other than &quot;Do not run program&quot; for a slow boundary?  Neither option is ideal.<br/> <br/> Thanks!Fri, 20 Nov 2009 15:13:13 My advertisement is set to the install point collection.  My Discovery occurs at 8 PM each night.  My collections update at 10:00 PM each night.  With this setup if the user removes the program then it will show up on the install point collection since office is not installed..then the package is reinstalled.  This allows the system to be more automated and allow my help desk to manage software deleivey via simple AD groups then direct memberships into collections.  It also allows to redeploy a software package without using third party tools or deleting the execution history registry key.<br/><br/>I would like some thoughts or input into this processes.   Everything works great except the period when the software gets installed and when the collection reflects the change from Office not installed to installed.  Since the client polling interval is defaulted to 60 minutes the client could attempt to rerun the advertisement multiple times before the hardware/software inventory runs and the collection is update to reflect the change.<br/><br/>I have my hardware inventory running every 4 hours.  If I run my collections at 4 hours intervals it would be better but I would still get the install ocurring multiple times beofre the collection updates based on the 60 minute client polling interval.<br/><br/>Should I run the client polling interval higher than 60 min?   what is the effect of a longer polling interval other then the obvious.. Will a reboot force a machine policy update or is it 60 minutes after the login/reboot?<br/><br/>Should I run my hardware inventory/software inventory at a lower interval say every hour then set my collections to refresh at a lower interval?<br/><br/>I really do not try to install any software during that day.  Most of it is applied to group the day its requested and it will be deleiverd the next day.<br/><br/>I look forward to your responces.</p>Sun, 15 Nov 2009 20:55:51 Z2009-11-19T22:20:13Zhttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrswdist/thread/81823aa3-f070-4fa3-bae6-35cad650150ehttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrswdist/thread/81823aa3-f070-4fa3-bae6-35cad650150eTim_1008http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Profile/en-US/?user=Tim_1008 Error when creating a new package from definition<p class=MsoNormal style="margin:0in 0in 0pt"><span style="font-family:Verdana;color:black;font-size:8pt">I recently restore our production SCCM SP2 on Windows Server Standard 2003 SP in our lab. <br/><br/>Everything seems to be working great with one exception. <br/><br/>I am getting an error when trying to create a Package from definition. There is only one LAN, no branch points.<br/><br/>Any package I publish, I always get this error in site status;<br/><br/><em>SMS Distribution Manager failed to process package &quot;Reader&quot; (package ID = 00200004).</em></p> <p><em>Possible cause: Distribution manager does not have access to either the package source directory or the distribution point.<br/>Solution: Verify that distribution manager can access the package source directory/distribution point.</em></p> <p><em>Possible cause: The package source directory contains files with long file names and the total length of the path exceeds the maximum length supported by the operating system.<br/>Solution: Reduce the number of folders defined for the package, shorten the filename, or consider bundling the files using a compression utility.</em></p> <p><em>Possible cause: There is not enough disk space available on the site server computer or the distribution point.<br/>Solution: Verify that there is enough free disk space available on the site server computer and on the distribution point.</em></p> <p><em>Possible cause: The package source directory contains files that might be in use by an active process.<br/>Solution: Close any processes that maybe using files in the source directory.  If this failure persists, create an alternate copy of the source directory and update the package source to point to it.<br/><br/></em>I gave as full access rights I can to the SCCM machine account and domain admins. I managed destribution point all over again, but no. I tried different settings of the package, how to enter the path of source files. I still think, the problem is about DP cannot access the source. How can I check it for sure? Meaning, how can I do this; <em>Verify that distribution manager can access the package source directory/distribution point.<br/><br/></em>State of package is &quot;install pending&quot;.</p>Mon, 26 Oct 2009 18:44:59 Z2009-11-16T20:07:11Zhttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrswdist/thread/cc46403e-ac52-4cac-a834-00ce99969a9dhttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrswdist/thread/cc46403e-ac52-4cac-a834-00ce99969a9dnick.aquinohttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Profile/en-US/?user=nick.aquinoWake On LAN behavior is erratic - Packets being sent at unscheduled times<div>I have a couple issues with SCCM and WOL and cannot find any detailed documentation as to the inner workings of the site servers regarding WOL.</div> <div> </div> <div>Issue 1:</div> <div>-------------------------</div> <div>I have a wake-up advertisement for software distribution that is targeted to clients at 5:30am on Sundays.</div> <div> </div> <div>Message ID 6510 = The SMS Wake On LAN component successfully processed wakeup information for the object id=&lt;advertisementID&gt; of type=1.</div> <div> </div> <div>When I look at the SMS_WAKEONLAN_MANAGER component status messages (since Saturday), I see the message ID 6510 repeated many times for this one particular advertisement.  We expect that the wake-up packets are to be sent about 10 minutes prior to the advertisement mandatory scheduled time (5:20am).</div> <div> </div> <div>I see the 6510 message for this advertisement on Saturday at 3:20am, Sunday at 4:20am, 5:20am, 6:20am, 6:50am, 6:52am, and then on Tuesday at 5:04am.</div> <div> </div> <div>SCCM does not log individual packets sent, so I cannot tell how many packets are being sent at those times.  My best assumption (____-u-me) is that the site server is receiving either updated hardware inventory for clients that may not have woken up and is resending the packets to those systems so they run the advertisement...</div> <div> </div> <div>Issue 2:</div> <div>-------------------------</div> <div>We have the identical advertisement scheduled to run on sundays except for the time is 6:00am (same package/program)</div> <div> </div> <div>This advertisement, according to the SMS_WAKEONLAN_MANAGER component status messages, is not being processed.  I do not see the objectID that matches the advertisementID for that particular advertisement. </div> <div> </div> <div>There are a few identical advertisements that WOL is not being sent for that day.</div> <div> </div> <div>Additional information</div> <div>-------------------------</div> <div>These advertisements and collections were created via a script using the SDK as reference.  They are created the same.</div> <div>It seems that Issue 2 only occurs on Sundays.  The 5am Advertisement works, but the other 8 advertisements that run at 6am, 6:30, 7, 7:30, 8, 9, 10, and 11 (all AM) do not have any WOL information in the status messages and clients are not waking up with those advertisements.  All 9 advertisements are created the same way with the same script. </div> <div>I've compared all advertisements in the v_advertisements and vadvertisements tables... flags and everything are the same (except schedules, of course).</div> <div>These advertisements are weekly schedules.</div> <div> </div> <div>-------------------------</div> <div>Help?</div><hr class="sig">nickFri, 06 Nov 2009 21:55:02 Z2009-11-16T19:03:03Zhttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrswdist/thread/9880483a-c5f9-447a-a6b1-fefbc3f61b7chttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrswdist/thread/9880483a-c5f9-447a-a6b1-fefbc3f61b7cWRQ9http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Profile/en-US/?user=WRQ9IE8 Browser freezes won't reloadAfter watching streaming video for an hour or so my browser freezes, if I reload the page, the address stays the same and the page goes blank. I have tried everything from restarting my router to tracert searches to no avail. All systems seem fine but the browser won't load.<br/>The only way to fix it is to reboot the system. Once I reboot I'm fine again till the next time. I have recently removed my Google chrome browser as I first noticed this shortly after I installed that program. Another program added at the time was a download from Adobe for Hulu based video which I am leaving in due to exclusive content provided.Sun, 15 Nov 2009 06:00:19 Z2009-11-16T05:38:42Zhttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrswdist/thread/56a42467-2f17-4f28-9e3e-dd0510208f6bhttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrswdist/thread/56a42467-2f17-4f28-9e3e-dd0510208f6bpinchgem69http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Profile/en-US/?user=pinchgem69Remove Software Using SCCM Is it possible to remove specific software using SCCM 2007?  If so how would one go about removing software?<br><br>Here is the senario:  I have a few user with P2P software and I would like to remove it (and possibly block any further installation), but I'm not sure if that is possible.
