  • If you only want to run the video once from the time you start it then:

    1. In the Windows Media Services admin console, right click on Publishing Points and choose Add Publishing Points (Advanced)...
    2. Choose Broadcast for the publishing point type.
    3. Give it a name.
    4. For the location of content browse to the location of your file.  I would suggest putting it in the c:\wmpub\wmroot folder so that the permissions are set correctly.
    5. Click OK.  Once you are ready to start the broadcast, go to the publishing point and click on the Start button.
    6. The playback URL would be mms://yourServerName/yourPublishingPointName

If you want the file to loop the steps are a little different.

    1. In the Windows Media Services admin console, right click on Publishing Points and choose Add Publishing Points (Wizard)...
    2. Give it a name.  Next >
    3. Choose Playlist.  Next >
    4. Choose Broadcast publishing point.  Next >
    5. Choose the delivery type (probably Unicast for most people).  Next >
    6. Choose New playlist. Next >
    7. Click on Add media, Browse, and point to the file you want to stream.  Select file. Ok.  Next >
    8. Save the playlist.  I'd suggest taking the default which would put the playlist in the c:\wmpub\wmroot folder. Next >
    9. Do not check either Loop or Shuffle. Next >
    10. Enable logging if you want to.  Next >
    11. Uncheck Start publishing point when wizard finishes. Next >
    12. Create an announcement / web page if you want to and click Finish.
    13. Go to the Source tab on the newly created publishing point.
    14. In your WSX playlist locate the smil node.
    15. On the right pane, beside repeatCount type in: indefinite
    16. Click the Save icon and start your publishing point.
    17. The playback URL would be mms://yourServerName/yourPublishingPointName
