    Hi Dennis,

    DPM does support DPM on the same machine in a few scenarios:

    • You can get a BridgeSTOR appliance:

    or a

    • Reduction (dedup) card from BridgeSTOR:

    The reduction (dedup) card is a great low cost alternitive if you already have a DPM server.

    • EVault for DPM appliance:

    • DPM on top of Windows Storage Server (Not true dedup but a form of it.):

    So it sounds like the DPM program itself does not perform deduplication. I would have to get a separate appliance. Am I understanding that correctly?

    Hi Dennis,

    Yes that is correct. The best option if you already have a server and simply want dedup is to drop in one of those  Reduction (dedup) cards from BridgeSTOR.

    Hi Vincent,No DPM 2012 will not support deduplication directly. You will need a third party solution to achieve this.
