The question that bothers me the most is how should i integrate System Center 2012 in my planned architecture. The first reason i need SC2012 is DPM, which is not standalone product anymore. So if i go ahead with SC2012 solution i guess i should explore
and use all of it`s functionalities.
So i am in a bit of blind alley with this one... On which servers should i use and license SC2012 Standard? As i was told standard license covers physical machine with two physical processors and two virtual machines. My plan was to use SC only on primary
server (HP DL380p G8 on schema) and use DPM for backup to primary and secondary Synology NAS servers. I don`t see a point in paying almost 4000 euros for installing sc on secondary server (HP DL380 G5) as it`s only role in this setup will be secondary hyper-v
replica. Third server`s (ML150 G6) purpose will be strictly for testing purposes.
What are your experiences with hyper-v replica backup? Are you backing up secondary servers or is this not necessary? According to this blog post this is not supported and recomended: http://blogs.technet.com/b/dpm/archive/2012/08/27/important-note-on-dpm-2012-and-the-windows-server-2012-hyper-v-replica-role.aspx
