    Question

  • our wsus 3.0 sp2 need support windows update for windows 8 and 2012.  After checking, we need to apply kb 2734608 for wsus 3.0 sp2 before windows 8 and 2012 can get update from wsus 3.0 sp2.  We have try to reindex wsus db and reset performance counter, but it still not able to install this patch.  Log as below:

Update Name: Hotfix for Widows Server Update Services 3.0 SP2 (KB2734608). Installation success or error status: 1603.

Any ideas what might be causing this?

    Thank you.

  • Hello Ivenck99,

I've found someone that encounter the same error code with one previous KB (KB2720211) and found out an issue changing some key in the Registry.

As the KB2734608 is the following update for WSUS, it might be the same issue.

    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/878bc77d-8f32-41d4-b551-1607372b45f5/impossible-to-install-kb2720211-on-a-wsus-server?forum=winserverwsus

    Hope this will help.

    Thanks.
