    I know that USB isn't supported as a storage pool directly or officially. However I want to build an inexpensive solution for some testing and I wanted to see if this would work.

    Physical Server Running 2008 R2 SP1 with 4 3 TB USB 3.0 drives attached. The USB drives are spanned to create a larger volume. The server is also a Hyper-V host. The server has iSCSI Software Target 3.3 installed.

    The USB volume is shared out via iSCSI.

    A child Hyper-V is created running DPM 2010.

    Can the DPM server mount the shared out iSCSI volume successfully for a storage pool?

    Any other gotchas that I might be missing?

    you should be good to go with iSCSI disks as storage pool
