    General discussion

  • Hi, Iam starting a discussion, just let me think what you think of my idea.

For people that clean up the spam on the wiki, does a new feature like to report a user as spammer, thus would close is wiki's article automaticly would be good to make.

I am just wondering if giving some right on some user could help to block spam, like a forum moderator, but for the wiki in general.

Like for a new spammer; http://social.technet.microsoft.com/profile/lyzeljordan/. The report button could be on the profil directly for only some users that could set that at off, or on.

Activating that would block futur wiki post, but we could direct the user to a specific forum if it was set by error too.

  • I've been using the first link on this page:

    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/5041.how-to-report-a-technet-or-msdn-user-account.aspx

to Flag a Technet Wiki Account. I include a link to the user's profile. I get an email back within a few days saying the user has been banned.

Before I report a user I check their Activity to see if there is any legitimate activity. There never is, but I notice that almost always the user has been publishing two spam Wiki's every week or two for a month.

With the spam being so similar (titles, content, tags, but especially the comments) I'm sure one entity (user, program, bot) must be behind it all.

  • Good idea! I didn't know we could report wiki user. We learn each day!

I will use it that way, I usually find some user that slowly spam, like in interval of 15days. I am pretty sure too it's one entity.
