There are no queries in the log for selected measure group

    Question

  • I have tried to set up usage based optimization and I get this error:

"There are no queries in the log for selected measure group"

I have searched around and found my issue is maybe that the SSAS database name is different to the database ID.

The database name is devUCDWSSAS, the ID is UCDW SSAS

I read that I can not change the ID and that I need to change the database name.  I don't want to change the database name as that is referenced in all the client connections.

Is there a way of manipulating the OLAP Query log table or any other way to get this to work?

  • Copy the files that the import created over the top of the ones in your other folder...

If this solution is in a source control system like TFS you may have to check out your solution before you copy the files.

  • Hi John,

I didn't find other way to solve this issue. Currently, the only way to deal with this issue is rename database name to match the database ID.

    Thanks for your understanding.

  • If you want to get the database name and id back in sync one method is to backup the database and then restore it. When SSAS restores a database from a backup it will give it an ID that is the same as the name.

We did a big reorganisation on one of our servers recently renaming 12-15 databases and I just ran a powershell script against the server that did a backup and restore of every database where the name and id property did not match, now they are all back in sync.

  • That worked but my BIDS solution is still wrong. What is the easiest way to sync the solution?
