Since yesterday I can't connect to Analysis Services with Excel 2007. The Error I get is "Fehler auf der Transportebene" which means "Error on the transport layer". No further information, just this small message.

At first I tried to connect to a different server - same pc I run Excel. It was possible for months, but now I get the same error message. Then I tried it with windows authentification and this is working, but not an option for the other server I want to connect to.

Connection with SQL Server Management Studio is working without any problem. But I can test only the SQL and not the Analysis Services, because SQL SMS allows only Windows Auth for it...

What is most confusing for me, is the fact that the connection was working for months. I still have Excel files with PivotTables that were working and should still. But now they can't connect. And I even had a connection to the other Server in Excel last week. And I can't remember that something changed.

I hope you have an idea what the problem could be.

    Hi,

Thank you for using  Excel IT Pro Discussions forum.

From your description, I understand that  you are unable to connect to SQL Server Analysis Services with Excel 2007 and receive an error that error on the transport layer. If there is any misunderstanding, please feel free to let me know.

This issue is related to the SQL Server. I performed some research and found the following article. You can try to resolve the issue by the suggestions in this article:
