    Is there a way, without creating a shared workbook, to allow a user who has an file open in Excel 2010 read only mode to see changes just made by another user with the same file open in Excel 2010 edit mode without the read only user closing and re-opening the file?  

    F9 seems to only refresh data sources, not the whole sheet.

    Well you could set up 2 identical Workbooks one having a Data Connection to the other and refreshing every minute say.

    It's not exactly what you want but it seems to serve your purpose.
