hi all,
my exchange-2010-sp2 server name is server1 and my domain is domain.com. but my internet dns is mail.domain.com since our www address is serviced on another company www.domain.com, not on the same internet ip address, two are different internet ips.
when i checked my pop (or imap) settings in owa, it say my server name is server1 which doesn't exist on the internet because it's a local server name. although i have an entry in my active directory dns of mail.domain.com pointing to the same local ip on server1.
internet dns:
www.domain.com 62.1.2.5
mail.domain.com 209.1.2.3
local dns:
server1.domain.com 10.1.1.1
mail.domain.com 10.1.1.1
www.domain.com 62.1.2.5
firewall NAT is between internet and local ip 10.1.1.1
*note all ips are just examples and not actual.
what do i do in this case my activesync to work? my outlook-mac-laptop-mail works fine with the above settings but i can't make the iphone to work. should i rename my exchange server name to mail instead of server1? (or not a good idea)
please help and thanks.

AutodiscoverVirtual Directory has nothing to do with this - so stop looking at that.
Don't rename the Exchange server that isn't supported.
In the ActiveSync virtual directory settings, set it to https://mail.example.com/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync for the external URL.
Otherwise create a test account and run it through the Microsoft test site at http://exrca.com/ and see what that flags up.

Hello,
I think the following article must be helpful:
Publishing IMAP, POP and SMTP settings via Exchange 2010 OWA

Thanks,
