Answered 32-bit edition of the Windows Server 2003 Global Catalog required for Exchange 2010?

      Is this for real? "In every Active Directory site where you plan to install Exchange 2010, you must have at least one global catalog server that is the latest 32-bit edition of the Windows Server 2003 Standard or Enterprise." Systems requirement also state that the Schema Master has to be on a 32-bit Windows Server 2003 Standard or Enterprise. I have just about all my DC's on 64-bit 2008 looking to go 2008 native. Please tell me this is old info.

      No, your domain controllers can be 32 or 64 bit.   I believe that documentation has yet to be updated.

      No, your domain controllers can be 32 or 64 bit.   I believe that documentation has yet to be updated.

      And just to confirm, I just checked my lab and I have 2 x64 2008 domain controllers (one full, the other server core).

      Keep in mind if you only have 32-bit DCs then you won't be able to things like extend the schema. You'll need at least one 64-bit DC to do that stuff on and make it the schema master for that period of time if it isn't now, then you can switch it back after. :)

      Someone fact-check me and make sure setup.exe has to be run directly on the schema master. :)

      Setup does not need to be run from the schema master, you can have a 32bit schema master and run the update from a seperate 64bit computer.

      working very nice.

      i am with you erik the documintation needs to be updated.
