    According to RFC 2821 (http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2821) you should create a postmaster email address for every SMTP domain you're responsible for. The reason is that some non delivery reports (NDR) are being sent to this address.

    It's not neccasery to creat a special mailbox, you could also simply add this email address to an existing (admin) mailbox.

    Just to add a bit to Jetze's comment. There is something more said External Postmaster recipient. You can learn more about it here http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb430765.aspx The link talks about Exchange 2007 but the terminology explained in first paragraph remains the same for Exchange 2010.
