How to install Exchange 2007 SP2 on an existing Server 2008 (non-R2) installation
- We have an existing 2008 enterprise Server running 2007 Exchange 2007 Standard SP1 RU9. We are a little confused by the SP2 information, because it looks like there is no SP2 upgrade path available for this installation. Is this correct? In reading between the lines it looks like we must uninstall Exchange 2007 SP1, upgrade the Active Directory SCHEMA and then install a new SP2 installation. What am I missing?

You can apply SP2 directly to the existing installation but you do have to prep and update the schema and AD objects first:
