Forgive me for stealing someone elses post on msexchangeteam.com, but i have the same problem, and it looks like it wasn't answered there.

Greets. I have single box Exch 2007 setup. Now the following items don't work: anything that used to access Exch server via OWA, i.e. blackberry internet service (t-mobile BB's), Chattermail, Treo's etc. I believe it's because these services all accessed mailboxes with https:\\mail.server.com\exchange\username which doesn't seem to work now. Is there some way to make this work on single Exch server box?

Has the /username feature of exchange been replaced by the new "Open others mailbox" dropdown? What information do I need to provide to the Blackberry Internet Service (www.blackberry.com/go/vzw) so that it can connect to my exchange 2007 server? I realize a Blackberry Enterprise Server is the best option in almost all cases, but this was a usefull feature and i'm not convinced its just gone away.

Snow Leopard native Mail app / EWS error

I know this is a bit of a reach, but Apple support has been worthless. I have a couple of Mac clients that are connecting to Exchange 2007 via the new Snow Leopard Mail app that uses EWS for connectivity. However, the app is not downloading the entire contents of the many of the users' mail folders. Here's the particular error in question...

This is repeated hundreds of times in the system log - with the message id varying in each error. Apple Support has pointed the finger at Exchange - saying that something is misconfigured. However, EVERY other client (Entourage 2008 WebDAV, Entourage 2008 EWS, iPhone, OWA, Outlook 2007) can sync the messages properly.

My uneducated guess is that the SOAP envelope is somehow not getting encoded/passed properly and that Apple is at fault, not Exchange. Anyone have any insight on what else I could look at for troubleshooting purposes?

Ability to recover calendar items from brick-level backup

I am using Acronis Exchange restore and have a question. During a restore of calendar items from a brick-level backup, upon selection of specific calendar items, I noticed the items having an incorrect date. I then noticed that the date shown was the date the item was created and not the date it was on. Acronis recognized the issue and after many days, they came back stating the issue was not in the application, but in the way Exchange behaved. They stated no backup application could pull the date from the item on which was on, but only the date created. When the app restored the item, it did in fact go back on the correct date as they said it would. But, my issue is, if I want to only restore a month for example and wanted to sort by date, I cannot do so. My question is, is what they say correct that backup applications have no real way of seeing "into" the item for an identifier for calendar items?

Exchange Rules for Outlook

I need an app that allows unlimited storage of rules for Exchange.

Situation: The president has a rule for every person. Every person individual e-mail goes into a folder for them. There are hundreds of rules, if not thousands. We implemented Exchange 2007. From there he gets constant errors that he cannot add any more rules. I am aware of the issue with rules as stated here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/886616.

I absolutely need a third party app that allows unlimited rules for Exchange 2007. Any ideas?

Recover deleted email messages directly from Exchange database to a pst or alternate maibox.

In Exchange 2003 are there any recommended tools or utilities to recover deleted email from a live Exchange store to a pst or alternate mailbox? This can be done through Outlook or OWA to the user maibox, but I do not see a way to redirect the email to an alternate location.

Exchange 2007 and iPhone ActiveSync

Hi There,

We're having problem connecting our new Exchange Server 2007 with mobile devices (iPhone, Blackberry).
The issue might be related to it being in a dual-domain environment.
What happen is our machine name are using a different domain name than what the external users see.

Let's say:
- our internal machine domain: xxx .our-domain.com
some can be accessed publicly
- our public web address: www.our-company.org

Now, the old and current exchange 2003 box is called mailbox.our-domain.com and it has a public and OWA address of mail.our-company.org .
Blackberry and iPhone could connect to it no problem.
It currently assigned a certificate: mail.our-company.org , the same as the public address.

Now, we've configured a new server called new-mailbox.our-domain.com .
What happened is we change the reference of mail.our-company.org to point to this new box.
Also import and applied the same certificate used by the old exchange box: mail.our-company.org .
We even fixed the certificate error issue by following this instruction:

But even after that, the blackberries still not connecting and when we tried the iPhone it kept saying "Exchange account verfication failed "
Funny thing is, when we tried to set the server field as mail.our-domain.com , it worked.
We have no idea how that happens.

I don't know if this is related or not but we use a linux box as our mail proxy and haven't figured out how to configure it.
This was set up to work with the old exchange 2003 box a long time ago.

Please help!

Login prompt for SharePoint Lists using Outlook Anywhere

Hi,

I hope someone could help me with my problem because I know you guys are smart.

We have an exchange server 2007 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 installed and they're working smoothly. We allow users outside the network to use their Outlook 2007 to access their e-mails and SharePoint Lists using Outlook Anywhere. Outlook Anywhere is working fine and it is set up to use SSL and NTLM authentication and neither "On fast networks...." and "On slow networks....." checkboxes are checked. Currently using Outlook Anywhere, we have no problem for users outside the network to check their e-mails, calendar, contacts, etc that are directly related to exchange server 2007.

The PROBLEM is that users who have SharePoint Lists added to their Outlook 2007 gets login prompt boxes to type in their credential. For example, if they have 5 SharePoint Lists added to their Outlook 2007 and if they open their Outlook 2007 outside the network using Outlook Anywhere, they can 5 login prompts. If they type in their user credentials, they will be fine but some users have more than 10 SharePoint Lists added to their Outlook 2007. These users will have more than 10 login prompts asking for credentials as soon as they open Outlook 2007 from their home.

Will this problem be solved if I choose Basic Authentication instead of NTML Authentication? When they released Exchange Server 2007, Microsoft announced that they have fixed NTML Authentication to work in Outlook Anywhere because 2003 version had a problem and the only option in 2003 was to go with Basic Authentication.

Can someone please help with my problem? I just don't understand why Outlook 2007 is not passing current user's credential to SharePoint Lists added to their Outlook because they are already logged in to read e-mails and such.

By the way, users within the network are NOT prompted for user credential for their SharePoint Lists.

Please can you advise what could be causing the removal of the headers. This was working using Exchange 2007 SP1 rollup 9, now we have upgraded to Exchange 2007 SP2.?
If we move the mailbox to Exchange 2003 it works, but when we move it back to 2007, it removes the headers.

I'm facing a problem in creating the mail box in Exchange Server 2003 via script.

Let me Explain the Requirements :

I'm automating the ADMIN process via vb scripting. we are having two different server for "Active Directory (LDAP)" and "Exchange Server 2003". "Test Linux Server".

Now I need to create a email box for a particular user those who are having account in AD.

I found a utility for MailBox Creation.
The name of the Utility is : ExchMbx.exe

If we provide the DNstring to this utility it'll create the mail box for that user.

Example :

dsquery user -samid mkautomate | ExchMbx.exe -cr "CN=Mailbox Store (BLREXCH01),CN=First Storage Group,CN=InformationStore,CN=BLREXCH01,CN=Servers,CN=First Administrative Group,CN=Administrative Groups,CN=VITAGETECH,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=vitagetech,DC=com"

otherwise we can given -b and DNString

I placed this ExchMbx.exe in C:\Tools\ dir.

from the command prompt I called this exe with the above option, I could create the email box for the given user.

So for I does all these executions in Exchange server directly (mstsc RDP Connection as domain + exchange server + enterprice admin).

There is a utility available for executing a scripting windows server through linux.

I used this utility for AD User Creation and other AD related tasks. It worked very well and proven also.

now I'm calling the ipconfig via winexe.

winexe --system -U <domainname>/<adminuserid>%<adminpassword> //<ExchangeServerIP> "ipconfig"

If the above one is success and if you get the IPConfig, Call this script,

I pass the same domain UserId and Password to winexe.

It simply saying "Access Denied".

I checked the event/error/application logs in the Exchange server.

I checked the permissions are same through the RDP as well as the winexe.

vb.net save attachments from exchange server for a particular mail account

Dear All,

I am trying to resolve the following business issue we have:

Currently our administrator recieves e-mails with attachments from a fixed e-mail address in his e-mail mailbox twice a daily; he saves the attachment from this address locally on his system and then uploads onto the web server using the .net file upload component.

To get over from this manual work, I plan to automate the process by implementing a scheduled VB.net application (runs twice a day at 7) to read mails "from address" on the exchange server, download the attachments from this address, save it locally on the server, send a path to the SQL server database and using WebDav ut up the attachments onto a remote FTP server. Therefore any visitors accessing the web page will see the attachments without having someone to manually put up the files. Please note there is a fixed "from address" and a fixed "toaddress"

If the above is right, can you help me out with code snippets to fasten the process.

iPhone, Exchange, & Outlook 2007

The IT Mgr at my office set up all of us iPhoners so we could check our work email outside the office. It's pretty powerful, and works very well away from work, and I've benefitted from it immensely - it allows me to keep up with emails from home without the hassle of a session at the computer (I spend etoo much time on the computer as it is!).

When I get to work in the morning, I open Outlook 2007 and all my new messages come flooding in. Any that I've deleted from my iPhone are gone, those that I've moved from my Inbox to a subfolder are where I put them, and Read emails show as Read ... but replied-to emails do not show as having been replied-to.

When you reply to a message in Outlook (or any mail clent, of course), there's a change in the icon next to the email, indicating that a reply has been sent. Here's a screenshot of what I'm talking about:

The top email was replied-to from my iPhone, yet Outlook doesn't reflect this. The email below it was replied-to from Outlook, and you can clearly see the little arrow indicating that fact.

So my question is: How do I get Outlook to show that I've replied to an email from my iPhone? Is it an Exchange setting? Is it something in Outlook? Or is it something I just have to live with?

Hi,
I want to create a process to retrieve information from Microsoft Exchange Server to show for example calender information in a wpf datagrid.

I am completely new to this, and am wondering how to start.
What I found is that I can use exchangeservicebinding for Exchange 2007 or higher, but I can not find any info on where to get this binding.
(is it a separate reference?)
I also found out that older exchange databases use a complete different way of retrieval, so to keep it more simple it will start with 2007-2010 only.

I hope someone can give me a push in the right direction.

BlackBerry and OWA: due date of tasks not correct in OWA after altering on BB

Hi there,

I have the following setup:

one Ex2007 server, one BB Server.
All types of synchronisation (mails task notes...) are running fine.

The Problem:

When I alter the due date of a task on BB-Device, it is altered on the BB-Device and when I open my outlook the altered due date is shown correctly.

When i acces my mail-profile via OWA and open the tasks view and open the altered task, the due date is the old due date. it seems, that the aleration has no effect.

i replicated this for 3 users

any suggestions?

Emails bouncing back to sender due to Email Size but we do not have limit set

We are on exchange 2003 & outlook 2003...senders are complaining that their mails are bouncing back due to

"Message size exceeds fixed maximum message size"

The only limit we have set is an attachment limit of 20mbs...some senders are just sending a jpg or pdf with maybe a line of text and they get this failure messge....What can we check next?

were using Exchange 2003 and have a recipient policy (On Distribution List) set on our users, It was working fine before and suddenly users on our organization cannot receive email anymore from there recipients (one particular domain *@domainname.com) , when I check the logs using the message tracking, Multiple NDR was generated event id 1030. As I check on the logs on our smart host to find out that @domainname.com are using BATV (Bounce Address Tag Validation) because the address is btv1==551f804f4ba==recepient@domainname.com instead of recepient@domainname.com .

Is there any way to set your exchange server to understand BATV or do I need to set this on our smart host.
I would like also to know how to get the email transaction log on our exchange server.

Hope someone can give an Idea.

i have a dell server running window server 2003 standard edition. and installed a backup exeu 12.5 and virtual server 2005. The virtual server 2005 have already installed window 03 standard inside. the symatec error message display "Backup VM - The Job failed with the following error: A failure occured querying the writer status (Final error: 0xe000fed1 - A failure) v-79-57344-65233. i check the event log in "Event Viewer", there have a lot of error in "Application" about virtual server:

Exchange 2007 Certificate import error

I am trying to import a new certificate for Exchange Server 2007 to replace the old one. In the Exchange Shell I type in the following:

New-ExchangeCertificate -generaterequest -SubjectName "C=US, S=Ohio, l=Columbus, O=Our company name, CN=mail1.ourcompany.org" -domainname *.ourcompany.org,autodiscover.ourcompany.org,activesync.ourcompany.org, -Services "SMTP",IMAP,POP,"IIS" -privatekeyexportable:$true -path c:\cert_PKCS_10_2009.txt

I always get the error below. What I noticed on the actual error is, where it says ‘New-ExchangeCertificate’, there is a + sign in front of the word New but there is no + sign in the command that I paste in. Could this be the issue? Is this command written proper?

When i configure my Iphone whith my OWA in LAN ,no problem.

When i use "OWA DMZ" in safari --> OK, when i put the same @ in my exchange config on my Iphone --> KO...

FAXMaker issue

I am working the on a GFI faxmaker issue with SBS 2003. I have the GFI server loaded on another box (Server2) and the SBS server is the exchange server. So, having said that, I have an SMTP connector that points to the SMTP virutal in IIS on server2, when I try to send a FAX , via the ######@faxmaker.com, the email is not delivered to SERVER2 for routing out the GFI Fax server, I get "The remote server did not respond to a connection attempt" in the que on the SBS 2003 box, and no connections are shown on SERVER2 under the IIS virtual server.

I was able to telnet to port 25 of the of SERVER2 and I see the connection under the IIS virt server. I was able to telnet and send a FAX using command line, just not using outlook and exchange to route in the same manner. Any help would be great.

Help with Exchange on I-Phone

I am trying add my work email to my I-Phone. When at work I use Microsoft Outlook (on an exchange server) and when I need to check mail remotely I got to https://mail.domainname.com/exchange. Can anybody tell me how to add this account - I have tried under Exchange & IMAP and neither is working.

Hi All,

I posted my issue to the Vista's Forums and I was redirected here... So I hope someone can help...

The issue is the following:

MS Exchange 2003 (SP2) used primarily with IMAP. Windows XP users using OE6 with IMAP and SPA.
Now the time has come to test possible migration to Vista and the problem I faced is with the 'Windows Mail'. The 'Windows Mail's behavior when using SPA is different than the OE6'... It prompts for a username/pass each time the mail client is started... The OE6 is using the currently logged user's credentials for the NTLM...

So the prompt for user/pass from the 'Windows Mail' is completely unusable... What is the idea of using NTLM for authentication when each time the password is prompted (from usability's stand point, the NTLM vs. 'Plain Text Login' is not questionable)...

Any way, is there a way I can configure the Vista's 'Windows Mail' to use the currently logged user for the NTLM authentication against the Exchange IMAP?

Just FYI, I have tried the situation with the 'Windows LIVE Mail' and it is the same....

msexchangeal eventID 8231 and Blackberry enterprise server services not starting after crash

Hello everyone,
I am hoping that someone can help me resolve issues that we have with our windows 2003 exchange server, loaded with BES 4.1 (I believe). The blackberry services won't run now. I recently took over administration of this server and am new to Microsoft Exchange and BES, so I'm trying to learn about these as quickly as possible.

Here's what happened:
The server froze one morning, and couldn't be accessed at all directly or through remote desktop. The only option was to do a power off on the machine. Upon reboot, there were a number of errors in exchange and none of the blackberry services would start up. Long story short, after replacing a dll (jcb.dll) that a lot of errors were pointing to with a fresh copy from the win 2003 server CD, and doing a repair on the exchange database, we've been able to get exchange services running properly with mailbox stores and public folders available again.

However, the following is still happening:

- event log shows errors in MSExchangeAL with event ID 8231
Permanent failure reported by policy group provider for 'CN=Recipient Policies,CN=Name,CN=MicrosoftExchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=Name,DC=com':'MAD.EXE', error=8000ffff. Taking provider offline.

just recently, we discovered that one of our domain controllers, which is also our primary DNS, ran out of virtual memory and had already crashed before the exchange server did. The computer was unresponsive so I rebooted it but haven't had time to verify whether its services are running properly yet. I'm wondering if this could have something to do with the exchange server problems.

At the same time, the following BES services are popping up error windows saying that they've encountered an error and can't run: controller, dispatcher and router

Trying to start them manually still fails, so our blackberry users can't view or interact with their exchange calendars on their devices now. This is the main feature we use BES for.

As I don't know much about exchange and BES (yet), would greatly appreciate if anyone can provide insight and/or point me in the right direction.

Echange server is not working with Share Point server

Hi Friends,

I got a problem with Echange Server 2007 communicating with Share Point Server 2007.
Scenario:
We are trying to share a document using our application that should be in Share Point Shared Documents. We are taking the Shared Document Item url and sending to the other using exchange server. Here, I am getting a problem the mail is not going from sender to the receiver.
Any one can give any primary steps to configure exchange server 2007 to sharepoint server 2007?

My company is in the process of migrating from Groupwise to Exchange 2007. We had a tool that was developed in house to grab messages as they come in, save the message and any documents attached to the message, and save them as a PDF to a file server. I can't seem to find a way to do that in Exchange. I have been searching for an answer, checking to see if there are any third party apps that can do this, and I haven't had any luck so far.
The closest thing I could find was GFI Mail Archiver, but in some ways it's overkill, and in others, it isn't robust enough. We already have mail archiving, so to archive twice isn't required, and all we REALLY want is to save things like documents, jpegs, etc... in a directory on our FS. Printing to PDF is a really nice extra, but if all we can do is save a copy of the attachments, that works as well, and we need to do this automatically and at the Exchange server.
Anybody have an experience with this? Any ideas?
