    Hello,

I am the Exchange 2003 admin in a big company.
We have 14000 account using Exchange and around 6000 accesing email using OWA.
The problem I have right now is with ONE and only one account.......when this account access their mailbox using OWA it loads correctly but if I click to open an email I get again (on the preview frame) the login screen....so if I click in any options (calendar, options, new email, etc) I get the login screen and have to enter credentials again.
I thought the problem was with the Active Directory Account, so I disconnected the mailbox and linked the same mailbox to another active directory account and the problem persists.
I have checked the Configuration on Exchange Features in the Mailbox and everything is equal with all accounts, but this specific Mailbox is asking for credentials with each click.

Any ideas on how to solve this?
Is there any other place to check the configuration for the mailbox?

    Thanks in advance,

    Zolw

have you compared  "Mailbox rights" and "Security" between this account, and an account that is not experiencing this issue?  all access/rights are the same?

    Susan,

    Thanks for your answer.
I checked all Mailbox Rights and Security between this account and several others and everything is exactly the same.
I even tried disconnecting the mailbox from an account that works fine and connecting the mailbox that is giving us problems and then the account that was working fine presents the problem of having to login after each click in any option in OWA.

Just to be sure I am am explaining right:
    1. I have account S102030 (the one with the mailbox not working)
    2. I disconnect the mailbox from account S102030
    3. I have an account that works fine: S999999
    4. I disconnect the mailbox from account S999999
    5. Now I connect the mailbox that was linked to account S102030 to account S999999
    6. Now I try to access the mailbox linked to account S999999 using OWA and it ask for login with each click.
    Any hints?

    Thanks,

    Zolw

well, I guess that verifies that it's not the account, which I would have thought it was...sorry, but I can't imagine what could be causing that...

You will have to wait for sometime in order to replication to finish. Also make sure that your AD replications are working fine

You won't believe the cause of the problem.

It seems that due to security either within Exchange or how it was configured Exchange 2003 in our organization...every time that an email has an external animated GIF image OWA sends a login page in the preview panel.

So if a user is checking their mails (in OWA) and any email has an image (animated GIF) has an external reference <img src="http://www.externalsite.com/image.gif"> OWA restricts the content by asking to log in again.
It seems a weird bug to me or a bad configuration. Does anyone know about this or how to fix it?

    Thanks,

    Zolw

I've seen warnings in this scenario (and still do), but never the login page because of this. Below you may find some info:
