Hello everybody,

I would like to get access -through code (cmdlet?)- to all the contacts of a given mailbox. The case is that I have a cvs file with contacts of a mailbox 'A' and I want to insert all those contacts into a mailbox 'B'. I will really appreciate your help on this.

Exchange does not seem to like this format, see text below:"The folliwing values have invalid data : alias"

firstname.lastname@xxxxxxxxxx is not valid for Alias. Valid values are: Strings formed with characters from a to z (uppercase or lowercase), digits from 0 to 9, !, #, $, %, &, ', *, +, -, /, =, ?, ^, _, `, {, |, } or ~. One or more periods may be embedded in an alias, but each one of them should be preceded and followed by at least one of the other characters. Unicode characters from U+00A1 to U+00FF are also valid in an alias, but they will be mapped to a best-fit US-ASCII string in the email address which is generated from such an alias.

I changed the alias on one of the accounts by removing '@' and everything is great.

My question, is there a powershell one-liner or script that could go thorough every alias and remove the domain part of the address (everything from @)?

Hello,

In my "organization" we have 20% of Exchange accounts (Exch sever 2007)and 80% Linux Accounts.

The Linux accounts are mail contact (New mail user & New mail contact).

1- I need to add in the Mailbox User Properties in Custom attributes 2 the mention "LINUX" for the mail contact (New mail user & New mail contact).

2- And need to do the same with all the mailbox but add the mention "EXCHANGE"

Last night we moved our OAB generation process from an Exchange 2003 Server to an Exchange 2007 Mailbox Server. After doing so, we are getting errors while generating Version 3a of the OAB (error below).

When I run the "Get-OfflineAddressBook -Identity "Default Offline Address list" | fl" cmdlet, I see that the server listed under the PublicFolderDatabase attribute is the old Exchange 2003 Public Folder Server still. I thought I would be able to use the "Set-OfflineAddressBook" cmdlet to reconfigure the PublicFolderDatabase attribute to a Public Folder DB on a Exchange 2007 Server. Problem is that the "PublicFolderDatabase" attribute is not something you can set (at least with the "Set-OfflineAddressBook" cmdlet). Anyone know how to set the PublicFolderDatabase attribute? I have a CCR setup with 2 win 2008 sp2 DCs and 2 CAS/HT/Um servers. All client versions are outlook 2007. when the faileover happens all the outlook 2007 are prompted for login credentials. But the credentials are not accepted. It has to be canclled and seletct need password outlook icon on the right bottom cornor.

Im trying to connect between 2 exchange server for mailbox transfer. One of them configured as parent domain(parent.local). The another one is configured as child domain (chil.parent.local).

I created PAR administarative group from parent domain, and i configured to browse that PAR administrative group while instaliing exchange server on child domain.

Tried to access to PAR child domain group from CHIL parent domain group. but it doesn't acess and gives me this error ( shown picture - http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y32/erdenekhuu/exchange.jpg) How do i access to PAR child domain admin?

Dear Team,

Recently we have applied a hot fix for our Exchange server for below mentioned event ID. then we have rebooted the server.
After few minutes IIS service stoopped unexpectedly. While trying to restart it manually its showing error.

Kindly give some suggestions to activate the server to live.

Details:

Sql server version 2003 & Exchange 2003.

Could not start the IIS Admin service on local computer.

We're working with Exhange 2007 SP1 on Windows server 2003.

I've tried to suspend and resume the replication but this does not help. Even with the replication suspended the errors are generated. Also i tried to dismount en mount the PF databases but also no luck

I do not find any info about this errror.

What could be the problem here?

Disconnected mailbox are automatically deleted (cluster CCR)

I have some troubles with my disconnected mailbox. When I disconnect a mailbox, the mailbox is automatically deleted... I can't see it in "disconnected mailbox"... So there is no way to reconnect it because I can't find it... Does anyone have any idea?

Hi,

I just changed the location of msg tracking Log File Directory in Exchange 2003 and reboot the server. Now the new log is in the new location but what happen to the old logs?

1- Do I need to move them myself in new location?
2- Could I just delete them?

3- Another question, what does it mean when the logs are very big for just 3-4 days: 2-3 Go compare to usual 100 Mo files?

Public Folder Permissions

Hi, i have a simple task to create a public folder structure, but for me its became a nightmare, what are my steps:

On Exchange Server 2007 SP2, using Public Folder Management Console, i am creating Test folder under the root folder(Default Public Folders)
Then, using powershell, i am assigning permission owner on this folder to user Test : Add-PublicFolderClientPermission -Identity \test -user domain\test AccessRights owner
Then, i open outlook under test account, i can add/delete documents and even delete Test folder, all everything i want except one - I am unable to create subfolders.
I already read tons of documentations about permissons for public folders, i also trying to use PFDDAVAdmin tools(but it's not working for me error 503 and 403) i even trying to add test user to Public Folder Administrator group and a local admin on exchange server - no success, only Domain Admins could do this.
Please explain how could this be!!

I have this problem, my edb database file has 31 GB. On that disk i have only one more folder (around 700MB). Disk has 100GB, but still i get message that Disk space is low (5% left). There is nothing else on this drive, logs are on the other drive.

Does anyone know what could cause this and where are other 70 GB?

Contacts in Public Folders

I need to change the default folder Contacts are stored in to a public folder. Using Outlook 2003 linked to a 2003 Exchange Server, I can change the default folder to a Public Folder and all contacts will automatically save to that folder.

Using Outlook 2003 or 2007 linked to a 2007 Exchange Server, it doesn't work. The settings I can find appear to be the same.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I am able to connec to mailbox server using pfdav but NOT able to connect to Mailbox SCC cluster error while connecting to SCC is "Could not expand https://server.domain.local/exchange/: There is no such object on the server

I have a simple question. I am running NTbackup as a temporary solution until I get my permanent backup software (netbackup). I am running backups nightly but have now need to run a full log clearing backup. Will the be ok sinnce I will be moving the the new software withing a couple of weeks?

outlook 2007 loosing connection to exchange 2007

At times outlook is loosing connection to Exchange Server and after few seconds it re-establishes the connection. the client is outlook 2007 and we have exchagne server 2007. The client is located in different site from the server. I have checked with users in the same site as the exchange and they are not facing this issue, therefore, it is not an exchange server which is causing this.

So, I checked with network team, and even they are sure that nothing from network is blocking or causing any issues. So, I am stuck now, I saw the following logs in client machine and would like to know if some one has faced this kind of issue and the suggested way to troubleshoot this;

We'd like to setup an auto reply to an account in exchange.. Is the
best way to do this, using the out of office assistant in Outlook, or
is there a cleaner way of doing this? (IE: I think outlook prompts
you every time you launch outlook to turn this off if it is on)..

Perhaps a server side blurb that can be set and sent each time
someone
emails the account (from offsite)?

Exchange Server 2007 Public Folder Permission Assignment

We are currently in the process of designing an Exchange 2007 organization that will be used to host two separate companies with two separate support organizations. Therefore as a requirement we have the need to implement a split permissions model, ensuring administrators in one company can only perform administration over their designated messaging objects.

In order to configure the administrative permissions over the shared public folder hierarchy we have adopted the approach of removing all administrators from the Exchange Public folder administrators group and have instead implemented specific permissions to specific top-level folders using the Add-PublicfolderAdministrativePermissions cmdlet.

Unfortunately we appear to be experiencing a problem following the use of the cmdlet; outlined in working example below.

Working example:
-Top level folder: \Company1
-Responsible support group: Company1Admins
-Executed command: add-publicfolderadministrativepermission -user Company1Admins -identity "\Company1" -accessrights allextendedrights -inheritencetype all

Following the execution of the command, the Company1Admins group appears to have the required level of administration control over the \Company1 folder. The problem only becomes apparent when a new child folder is created beneath \Company1 e.g. \Company1\Child.

It appears even though we have specified '-inheritencetype all' on the command, the new child folder does not inherit the ability for the Company1Admins group to administer the folder. Running the get-publicfolderadministrativepermission cmdlet against \Company1\Child reveals that the group has no permissions at all over this child folder.

I would be grateful for any advice on how we can use this command to provide the desired result; are we mis-interpreting how the command works or is there some other command or syntax that we should use. Also do you know of any other way we could implement this Public folder split permissions requirement?

Exchange 2007 MRM notification email

I'm getting started with Exchange 2007 and setting up managed folder policies to move old email from certain folders to a system cleanup folder and delete old items from the system cleanup folder. I would like this to work very similar to the Exchange 2003 Mailbox Management feature. My questions to get it to work the same are:

1. Is there a way to use a Managed Custom Folder that does not get created under a folder named Managed Folders? I would like to use the System Cleanup folder that was created by Exchange 2003.

2. Can I configure the Managed Folder Assistant to send a summary email to each user after their mailbox is processed rather than just moving their mail and not telling them.

Cross site OWA access in E2K7

I am aware that cross-site mailbox access through OWA 2007 is not possible by default and will end-up with error like below.

Outlook Web Access is not available. If the problem continues, contact technical support for your organization and tell them the following: There is no Microsoft Exchange Client Access server that has the necessary configuration in the Active Directory site where the mailbox is stored.

The general solution I have heard to fix this problem is to enable integrated authentication on OWA virtual directory on non-published CAS servers.

But this solution is not applicable for me because of my below situation.

* I have two sites, both are having CAS servers
* One cas server in each site is published to internet.

If I enable, integrated server on any of the site CAS servers, I will lose the form-based authentication facility which I require very much. I want to make cross-site mailbox access work without distrubing form-based authentication.

Do you have any solution for this?

Hi All,

I'm going to be involved in the transition of our Exchange Server 2000 to Exchange Server 2007 SP1. This is also going to include moving it from one server that has Windows Server 2000 on it to another server that has Windows Server 2008 loaded onto it.

My question is, would I still need to carryout all of the following steps in Part 1 - Part 3?

Setting up auto reply on exchange 2007

Hi,

I've got an email account that needs to send an auto reply to every email it receives. Now I've tried out of office assistant, but that only send the OOF once (i.e. if the user emails a second time, not OOO is received). I've tried setting up a rule that tells the server to reply to all mail received with a specific message. But found this only ever worked when someone with an exchange email account sent an email, however people using a unix based system would not receive an automatic reply.

A then tried setting up a rule that replies to every message with a template. Now this replies to any email that comes through, be it exchange based or unix based, but doesn't reply to every email all the time and it requires the client that has the rule set up, to always be running, which is not ideal at all...

So is there anyway to get an auto reply sorted that replies to every email sent in every time no matter the origin, protocol etc...

we are having great difficulties in recreating OWA virtual directory, it keeps on saying server.domain/W3SVC/1/ROOT’ cannot be found, at line:1 char:24 ( command used New-OwaVirtualDirectory -OwaVersion “Exchange2007" -Name “owa (Default Web Site)” )

Any ideas what maybe causing this? running on 64bit Server 03, Exchange 07.

The problem we had was that OWA suddenly crashed and says that it is corrupted and damage, so im trying to recreate the OWA Virtual directory but receiving the above message...

Also im trying to add OWA back to IIS :D

I'm working with outlook 2007 and have an exchange server at the back. Upon sending an email to one of my associate, I always prompted with this notification...

"Your email to (email address in the distribution list) was not delivered". I have checked the rules & alerts setting on the recipient's terminal and found nothing should prevent her from receiving my email. We think it could due to some setting error on the server, unfortunately the staff who used to manage the server just left the company.

Would appreciate any assistance on how we can sort out this issue.

Hello, I have tried to install E2K7SP1EN32.exe and E2K7EN32.exe management tools on my xp sp3 32 bit workstation and have not been able to the installation started.

I removed my ex03 snap in.

Here's the error:
Microsoft Exchange (heading)
Exchange server cannot be installed in the directory c:\program files\Microsoft\Exchange Server, which contains profile files of the current user.

This folder didn't even exist - I created it in the hopes of resolving this issue.

Anyone else have this issue?
