Which Sounds Best SCC or CCR?
- I am in the process of installing Exchange 2007 sp1 on Windows 2008. I have to servers at site A and two servers at site B. I have a SAN at both locations as well that will hold the databases. Currently, non-clustered Exchange 2003 on Windows 2003 is running. The servers and SAN solution meets the clustering criteria. I need the cluster setup as such:
Node1(A-Local Site), Node2(P-Local Site)
Node3(A-Remote Site), Node4(P-Remote Site)
If the local site becomes unavail, the information can come online on the passive node at the remote site and vice versa.
I would like the incorporation of the backups that is given with ccr, however, i feel that scc is my only option. could someone lend some guidance on which would be a better fit for my situation? Also, I inherited this so failover cluster service was already installed. Will this make a difference in installation? Do I need to uninstall it on the servers before I install Exchange? Help is greatly needed and appreciated. If you need further info, just let me know.

- Well, with Windows 2008 you can go for Geo-Cluster CCR but you need to stretch the AD site across the datacenters/sites since both nodes should be in same AD site in a cluster...Reference:Deploying an Exchange 2007 SP1 CCR Cluster on a Windows Server 2008 Failover Cluster – Part 1: Prerequisites & Configuring the failover cluster nodesAlso refer below article while placing FSW for Geocluster...Placement of the File Share Witness (FSW) on a Geographically Dispersed CCR ClusterAnd as always compare to SCC, CCR gives database level availability due to multiple copy of database...

- Greetings,
I hate to recommend a change of gears when you are already deep into the process with Exchange 2007 but if you can hang on just a little bit longer I think you will find the new storage architecture and high availability options in Exchange 2010 to be worth the wait in your case. DAG groups that allow for multiple site location with replicas of your database that are ready to go live in the event of a failure (and you don't need to be a clustering expert).
However, if you are already committed to moving forward, I believe Amit gives solid information below.

(MCT/Triple-MCSE/MCITP) - Best solution is to implement CCR under ALL Exchange 2007 clusters; but I recommand you if can wait for Exchange 2010; it will be more simple by using DAG
If you want CCR you need to implement Witness FileShare in high availability mode

Dhafer “All nodes in an SCC or CCR environment must be in the same Active Directory site. Although Windows Server 2008 failover clusters introduce support for cluster nodes to be members of different Active Directory sites, this configuration is not supported by Exchange 2007”

It’s not supported to deploy the nodes into different sites. Or, you can take Amit’s suggestion to deploy the Geo-cluster
