Hi people, i have an old exchange 2003 database backup performed in "exch01" , the backup is from 2 years ago. Now i moved all my mailboxes from this server to a new server "exchnew" . I have to recover one mailbox from this old database, my current work database its on "exchnew" and "exch01" its still online but empty. Can i recover this old database in the empty exchange server ?? the old database have the same mailboxes before they moved and i dont know if there could be a conflict becuase the servers are in the same organization , both online.

Was the mailbox you want to recover moved to the new database at some point? If not, then you can restore to the recovery storage group.
Otherwise, yes, you can restore that original database, mount it and then reconnect that mailbox to a temporary AD account to get access. It wont affect the other production mailboxes because their mail attributes in AD point to the mailboxes on the new server.
