Your mailbox is closed
Greeting!
I have an Outlook 2007 (12.0.6514.5000) user running XP Pro SP2 that is receiving the following message. From: System Administrator
Subject: Your mailbox is closed
Importance: High
Your mailbox has exceeded one or more size limits set by your administrator.
Your mailbox size is 43 KB.
Mailbox size limits:You may not be able to send or receive new mail until you reduce your mailbox size.
To make more space available, delete any items that you are no longer using or move them to your personal folder file (.pst).
Items in all of your mailbox folders including the Deleted Items and Sent Items folders count against your size limit.
You must empty the Deleted Items folder after deleting items or the space will not be freed.
See client Help for more information.
I have checked their mailbox on the Exchange (2003 SP2) server and it is reporting “No Checking”. And I have double checked that there are no limits being set on the mailbox or policies on the store.
I cannot figure out where this message is coming from (there are no Internet Headers and nothing shows in the Tracking logs).
Any help would be appreciated.

- Is this happening with one user or all the users? have you tried reconfiguring the outlook profile.
Also as a very initial troubleshooting step, can you disconnect and reconnect the mail bxo from the user.

- Raj,
This is just happening with one user. We have over 100 users in that same store.
"Reconfiguring the Outlook profile" - how so?
I'll try disconnecting and reconnecting the mailbox - Thanks!
Kevin Fletcher Sr. Enterprise System Administrator - I would ask you to move this users Mailbox to diff store if possible just to clear out IS cache and then move back to Original Store.
We have seen this issue several times now.
Vinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3| Hi Kevin,
Can this user send or receive email normally after receiving this "mailbox closed" email?
If another user's mailbox is over the limit and it set a rule in Outlook to redirect message to this mailbox, the issue could be happen. As the message is redirected, so there is no "FW" in the subject line.
If the mailbox had been closed after receiving this mail. Please move the mailbox to another store and check the issue. Meanwhile, please run Exbpa to see if it can give some clues.
Thanks,
Elvis
- Sorry I haven't replied -
I've been working other issues...
I need to get with the user and maybe try to move their mailbox to another store (If Raj's suggestion of disconnecting the mailbox didn't work.)
I'll get back to you on Monday.
Thanks again!
Kevin Fletcher Sr. Enterprise System Administrator - This seems to have fixed the issue. I disconnected the mailbox and then reconnected it and the user has stopped complaining.
Thanks!
