OWA 2007 getting error: The user name or password that you entered is not valid. Try entering it again.
- I migrated my Exchange 2003 Server to a new Exchange 2007 SP1 server on a new server running Server 2008 X64. I have succesfully removed the Exchange 2003 Server & demoted the 2003 Server.
When I try to log on to OWA, I get the FBA logon screen, but any user I use the credentials for, it just says "The user name or password that you entered is not valid. Try entering it again." I have cookies turned on on the client, and FBA and SSL (just using the default SSL certififcate that gets installed with OWA, I will install a real one as soon as I migrate it permanently to a new server). I am using my login/password, but I have also tried the Admin user/pass. I am testing this internally, but I am using the external URL to test it with.
Years ago, when I setup the domain originally, I set it up using {domain}.net, because that is what Microsoft recommended at the time.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

You dont need to create virt directories. They will come on its own. why dont you build the whole CAS server from the scratch. Follow this KB http://support.microsoft.com/kb/320202. This will tell you how to handle the IIS and CAS over here.

if this is on server 2008 then check if these are roles are installed with IISApplication Development->ISAPI Extensions
Security->Basic Authentication
Security->Windows Authentication
Raj- I looked at that one before I posted. Mine no longer has an exchange virtual directory, and it does not have anything to do with forwarding to the OWA virtual directory.

Can you try this on the CAS server https:\\CASservername\exchange
Raj - It comes up with Page cannot be displayed.
My original server was a SBS 2000 server. WHen I moved everything over to this temporary server, anytime I would click on exchange, exchweb, etc. It would just give me an error saying that it cannot find \\backofficestorage\... I probably should not have deleted them, but I didn't know where they should be pointed, so I did delete them. I uninstalled CAS and reinstalled it, but it did not re-create those virtual directories, just owa.
So, I assume that I have made a big mess out of this. How do I fix it?

Terrill - Since your setup is a new one try uninstalling and install the CAS role if possible so that we can avoid breaking heads. once done check the CAS settings on the Exchange management console. Configuring the Logon Prompt That is Used by Forms-Based Authentication

I am following KB 320202. I uninstalled IIS7, rebooted, reinstalled. When I go to remove the CAS role, it complains that it cannot read from the IIS Metabase, and make sure that IIS is installed. I verified that IIS is running, and the default web page shows. When I go to where the error message sends me (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997645.aspx) it just says uninsatll & reinstall IIS, which I did twice just to make sure it worked right, and I didn't miss something.
Is there a way to force the CAS role to ignore that it cannot read from the Metabase, and uninstall anyway?
By the way, during the reinstall of IIS, I found the roles that were to be installed with IIS (ISAPI, Basic Authentication, and Windows Authentication).

Terrill - Sorry, must not have had the right items checked when I reinstalled IIS7. I was able now to uninstall CAS, and re-install CAS. OWA is now working!
