Meeting request in outlook 2007

Basically when you receive a meeting request you should have an e-mail that you can accept or decline (and everyone is getting these) but the appointment should also appear in your calendar with the accept or decline option on & it’s not appearing in some calendars, some recipients only get the email and the appointment does not appear in the recipients calender. Its causing confusion amongst are staff due to the inconsistency, all using outlook 2007. Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions.

Outlook 2007 suddenly asks for password when opening

Hi,

We are running Exchange Server 2007....we have users on both Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007. I am having a weird issue with one user.

When he opens Outlook 2007, he gets a login box that says Connect to server webmail.mydomain.com (which is our CAS server). If he enters his network password, it accepts it and doesnt prompt again until he closes outlook and opens it again.

I had this user try on a different machine and he did not experience this problem. I have run office repair and created a new profile, both using Autodiscover and another one by creating it manually.

All of his settings match up with all others users. it just something with this particular machine.

any suggestions?

Prevent users from emptying deleted items in OWA in Exchange 2007

Hi all,

Is there a way to prevent people to emptying their deleted items in OWA? We have users accessing a secondary mailbox and would like the users to prevent from emptying the deleted items. Just wondering if there is a way to do that.

Outlook 2007 Cannot connect to Exchange 2003 via RPC over HTTP

I have configured an Exchange 2003 server to host RPC over http. My Outlook 2003 client can connect to it via https. When I attempt to connect using the same settings with Outlook 2007, it prompts over and over again for the username and password, never letting me in. I can't find any relevant info in the event log. The ssl cert is installed to the same place on both client machines.

I have attempted this on 3 different client computers and 2 different exchange 2003 servers. Does anyone have any ideas?

How to change RPC StringBinding:ncacn_http:0.0.0.0[6004]

My Single-Server RPC over HTTP for Exchange 2003 SP2 is not working. My assumption is that is has to do with the RPC StringBinding:ncacn_http address

In an RPCDump, I've found that the StringBinding:ncacn_http address is 0.0.0.0 whereas I know it should be the IP of the server.

How (if it's possible) do I change this value to hopefully make my server easily accessible to outside users? I've Googled this to death with no answers.

Outlook 2007 autodiscover error (0x800C820E)

I am experiencing a random number of clients that are unable to open the out of office assistant. when I do the test autoconfiguration I receive error code (0x800C820E) on the affected clients. Once a client has the issue I have been unable to resolve it, however there are only a small number of clients experiencing the issue.
a web search for the error code brings back nothing.
we are fully exchange 2007.
any help would be good.

I have successfully installed Exchange 2010 (with self signed certificate) on my Server 2008 R2 Enterprise VM, and created an e-mail account for my administrative account.

However, when I attempt to open outlook on the Windows 7 enterprise box (joined to the domain) and it goes through the "configuring outlook" steps it fails with an error stating:

"cannot open your default email folders. You must connect to microsoft exchange with the current profile before you can synchronize your folders with your offline folder file"

Doing some research online, I attempted to fix this by renaming outlook.ost to outlook.old and restarting outlook but I gives me the same error, I'm not finding a lot of information online regarding this problem with Exchange 2010.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

2007 Exchange OWA and Content Advisor NoAccess.RAT

We use IE Content Advisor and a NoAccess.RAT file to insure that only approved website addresses can be visited. We have run into a problem with OWA where it will allow us to visit the site and even to login, but as soon as it displays the OWA screen with the email panes, etc. it bumps us back out to the login window.

MS Outlook 2007 pro plus on TWO machines (one home, one work) with exchange server 2003 using same user profile-

This is the main error that I get when trying to use the search feature on 'One' public folder contact list in outlook 2007 'Instant search encountered a problem trying to display search results. Modifying your query may resolve this problem'

First of all this was only affecting the shortcut, not the actual public folder object. I found a fix and this was to copy the contents of the public folder object and then move the contacts back into a new folder alphabetically, one letter at a time, the search feature worked again for a few day and then suddenly reverted, it now only searches on the word 'Gary' no other letter will search.

I tried the same proceedure again but this time trying to hone in on what I 'thought' were corrupt contact items. I managed to create new folders A-D, E-G etc.. these all searched perfectly on any letter or combination of letters but when I got to moving H i started getting the error again - I split H into two new contact folders and cut the contacts back and forth between, just when I thought I was getting to the 'corrupt' items I found that the contacts in both folders would search on some characters but not others, for instance folder (a) would only search on Helen, error on Hele, search on Hel and error on H. folder B would error on Helen, Hele, Hel, He but display on H and Ha, Hal, error on Hale etc.

After an hour of playing with this new discovery I realised this was actually driving me crazy. I am now in the position of only being able to search for GARY or HELEN..................

Anyway before I arrived at this point this is what I had done to try and resolve the issue.
(in no particular order- cause i can't quite remember)

1. reinstalling WS4 (many times) tested
2. Made sure it's patched up sp2 etc
3. av disabled, enabled - tested
4. Installed reinstalled office and patched - tested
5. Copied the specific public folder in ESM - tested
6. Enabled, disabled indexing on the exchange server and client - tested
7. Created new MAPI profile x2 - tested
8. exchange cached mode on etc

I think there may be a bug, I phoned MS support and guess what

OWA not working on Exchange 2003

Hi there,

I've just installed Exch2003 and Win2k3 only to find that everything works except OWA.

I have worked throught the kb article http://support.microsoft.com/?id=883380 but it hasn't made any difference which has me a little stumped. I can't see any error messages in the logs.

This is probably way too brief, but I can't think of anything to add other than what I've supplied.

If anyone has any ideas, I would be very grateful.

Anyone got a neat way of simultaneously dealing with multiple attachments in Outlook 2003?

One of directors at my company has asked me to find a way to avoid having to deal with attachments individually i.e. if he receives a dozen .jpg files in a single email, he does not want to have to detach them all and open or double-click on each one one-at-a-time.

I did find a link to a complex customisation mod of Outlook but that is not really what I need.

Is there anything that can work or do I need to fall back on planB which was to experiment with Outlook2007?

Slow Outlook response when in non-cached mode

Hi,

We have noticed that when some of our users (directors and their PAs) switch between folders in their mailbox (Outlook 2003) it can take a long time to get the requested folder displayed on the screen. There can be around 30 seconds between clicking on the folder and seeing it. This is also only happening on our thin clients as these do not have cached exchange mode enabled, if used on a laptop things are ok.

Whilst they are waiting for the information they get the pop up displayed that info is being retrieved.

One thing that has almost certainly impacted the system is we began to import archived PST files back into the mailboxes a few months ago, which are then archived using Enterprise Vault from Symantec. This has increased the number of items in the mailbox quite significantly and although they have all been archived back out again a shortcut or stub is left in the mailbox pointing to the archived item.

Is there any way of improving response times? We can't remove the EV side of things as we have a rquirement to remove PST files from the network, so the emails need to be kept in the mailboxes.

Email staying in the outbox in outlook 2007

I have an issue with email staying in users outbox, this is across several users. When I look at their cached outlook profile nothing is showing up in the outbox, when I recreate the profile without the cache then there are items in the outbox.

Clicking send / receive doesn't remove them and I am not too sure if they have been sent.

This is affecting the size of the mailbox management.

When I look at the delivery logs for the edge server it appears that the message went thru ok.

But its just stays in the outbox and doesn't go into the sent items?

I haven't seen this before and any help is appreciated.

Exchange 2010 + Outlook 2010 = errors

Hi everyone,

I'm have a few issues with my installation of Exchange 2010. Ok, here's the scenario.

I have a remote Exchange server (2010 on server 2008), that users connect to. There are no machines connected to this server directly/on its network.

The users are having issues with the server deployment; Outlook 2010/07 is just simply not playing with Exchange 2010.

The message returned by Outlook is:

"The action cannot be completed. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable..."

Using Remote Connectivity Analyzer, I see that AutoDiscover is also failing.

Failed to obtain AutoDiscover settings when sending AutoDiscover POST request: An HTTP 500 response was returned from Unknown

Yes, we have SSL certs installed and configured for the domains, but what is going on here? Do you hava any ideas?

"show this address list first" option doesn't hold in Outlook 2003 since Exchange 2007 migration

Since the upgrade to Exchange 2007, many if not all Outlook 2003 SP3 clients have the same problem. They want to select an address list other than the GAL to be searched first. In the Address Book they select Tools, Options, and set their preferred address list in the "show this address list first" box. It may hold for several restarts of Outlook, but eventually the entry in "show this address list first" will revert to the GAL. How do I resolve this problem?

Ex2007 OWA CAS-CAS proxy problem

Im hoping someone may be able to help:

i have 3 sites:
Site1
internet line 1
svr1 - mailbox and cas

site2
internet line 2
svr2 - mailbox and cas

site3
svr3 - mailbox and cas

svr1 successfully proxies to svr3 but not to svr2
svr2 successfully proxies to both svr1 and svr2
svr3 successfully proxies to svr1 but not to svr2

the problem that browser reports is:
Outlook Web Access is not currently available for this mailbox because it could not authenticate the connection to the Microsoft Exchange Client Access server that should be used for mailbox access. If the problem continues, contact technical support for your organization.

when i check the iis log on svr2 all i get is:

Last week we upgraded from Exchange 2007 to 2010. After upgrade I have one uses that is no longer in OAB.

When I update OAB from the server I get the following error.

“ OALGen truncated or dropped properties for entry 'USER' in address list '\Global Address List' because they exceeded the configured size limits for the version 4 offline address list. The affected MAPI ids are: 8c6a 8008.

- \Offline Address Book”

I know that 8008 is because of group memberships, but does anyone know what 8c6a is? I cannot find that anywhere.

POP3/SMTP relay issue

Exchange2007 is installed and everything works fine except for 1 thing, we cannot send e-mails outside the company using POP3 with outlook 2003 . I can send internally fine

We get he following message

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

550 5.7.1 Unable to relay

I can send and receive internally and externally using outlookweb access and POP3 with outlook2007

After searching on net i found the below command:

After running the above command i found relay got open which will create serious problem for us. How can i allow ONLY AUTHENTICATED USERS to send emails over the internet by using POP3 SMTP option.

please can someone help me out here, when i installed exchange 2007 I did make sure i selected that we are usiing oulook clients.

Change the Filter View of OWA globally without User intervention

Most of the users in our environment use OWA to check mails. One of the common queries they have is that they are not able to send/receive mails when mailbox quota is full. They claim that they have deleted all the mails and that there are no mails visible in the Inbox or any other folders. We resolve this issue by changing their view setting from "Unread Messages" to "Messages" and then ask them to delete their mails.

What I want is to change this Filter View setting in OWA to be set to Messages by default at a all user level rather then changing it for single user. This way we can reduce the call volumes for the above issue. I checked the OWAAdmin tool, but it does not have the option to change the view setting.

So is there any way through Registry or anything which would help me do that? I googled a lot but no luck....

A piece of advice would be appreciable.

Outlook anywhere works on outlook 2007 but does not on outlook 2003

Dear All,

I would like to post this issue reguarding the certificate on Outlook Anywhere.

The symptoms are that Outlook Anywhere is working fine with Outlook 2007, but it is not working with Outlook 2003. It is not the first time I have this problem, so I suppose it is not cause by the customer environment.

Here is the scenario:
AD Single domain, domain controllers Windows Server 2003
Exchange 2007 SP2 installed on a WIndows Server 2008 SP2 machine.
AD Certificate Services installed on the Exchange 2007 Machine to issue the certiifcate to the IIS service of Exchange. The CA is Enterprise Root.

I have generate the request to the CA using the EMS command:

New-ExchangeCertificate -GenerateRequest -DomainName exchange2007,exchange2007.domain.loc,autodiscover.domain.loc,autodiscover.domain.com,owa.domain.com
-FriendlyName owa.domain.com -PrivateKeyExportable:$True -path C:\owa.txt

I have enroll the certificate using the web browser advanced base64 request, imported and enabled the certificate for the IIS service.

Than I tested the functionality with my Outlook 2007 creating the profile and all were working fine. Also with OWA access I did not receive any certificate warning.

Than I tried to make the same test with an Outlook 2003, but it fails as I was not able to be authenticate (Always password prompt appears)

So. I decided to request the certiifcate using the MMC Certificate Snap In, after having modified the security on the web server certiifcate template, to allow my exchange 2007 server to enroll the certificate.

The differences between this and the previous certificate is that the first appear to be issed to owa.domain.com (MMC request), and the second to exchange2007 (EMS request). With the certificate issued to owa.domain.com I was able to use Outlook Anywhere with Outlook 2003.

I will be plased to receive an explanation of this particolar behaviour, and eventually, the most correct powershell instruction to request the certificate with EMS.

i have a public folder calender and in the share permission 2 users have "editor" rights on it ,they can both edit the calender but the problem is that they cant see the other person items, they can only see what they have created

I have just inherited a network and found that the last Exchange server migration from 2k to 2003 that was completed 3 years ago had the old server listed in the ESM under servers. This is a single server environment. The old server was cusa5 and the new one was cusaex1. Long story short I verified that the server was removed in 2007 and no longer existed and deleted it from ESM. Now All of my clients running Outlook 2003 are getting the following sync error but only when they first open outlook:

I have tried deleting the outlook profile and rebuilding. Even tried creating a new OST file. I have made sure Download Public Folder Favorites was unchecked and checked to make sure that outlook was running in Unicode mode against the Exchange server. I even created a new OAB but nothing seems to work. I also enabled logging in outlook but the log indicates no issues. BPA also indicates no issues. Now if it was up to me I would ignore it but with all the users getting it when they open outlook and my CFO asking me 4 times a day if I resolved it I have come to you guys for assistance.

Any suggestions?

Exchange 2007 User's can't login with "user must change password on next login" flag

I am having problems with the password changes for users that have been moved over from our 2003 server to the new 2007 server.

When I set up a new user, or someone forgets their password, I reset their password and set the “User must change password on next login” option. When this flag is set, the user cannot login to OWA on the exchange 2007 box. If I login to the old OWA (2003), I can change the password, then login to the new OWA page. It’s happened on 2 test accounts, and at least 3 live accounts I’ve changed the password on.

Calendar Resource Not Processing meeting requests

Hi

I have clean installation of Exchange 2007 no migration. I have resources (calenders) created. User's send a request to book the meeting room and meeting room process the request and replies back saying that

Your request was accepted.

but suddenly this has stopped, now when user's send a meeting request it doesn’t appear in resource nor we are getting confirmation message from the resource. If i restart the server then am getting all the accepted mails at once. [i.e. if i had sent 2 or 3 meeting request with calendar resource i will not get any accepted mail but after restarting the exchange i get all three replies]

can any one let me know how to troubleshoot why is this happening.

OWA can't login to mailbox on a new E2K7 server

I've added another E2K7 mailbox server to our environment. Mailboxes that have been moved from an existing E2K7 mailbox server to the new one can not be accessed via webmail. http://webmail.domain.com defaults to /exchange and doesn't get to mailbox. If user manually enters /owa, they can get to their mailbox.

Can't add others in meeting

Hi all

In outlook 2003 and / or 2007 I have user that cant click the add others button, its greyed out even if he's the organizer. I've tried on 2 diferent machines (one with OL07 and the other with OL03) and it's the same and it's with most of the meetings he creates.
We're in an exchange env. on server 2003.

Keep being asked to manage junk e-mail lists

Hello, I am using Outlook 2007 SP2 connected to Exchange Server 2007 (don't know anything more about the Exchange config). I get an Outlook pop-up message every few minutes saying:

Unable to add to the server junk e-mail lists, you are over the size
allowed on the server. The junk e-mail filter on the server will be disabled
until your junk e-mail lists have been reduced to the size allowed on the
server

Would you like to manage your junk e-mail lists now?"

I have only recently started and been using Outlook for a couple of weeks. I don't use Outlook to filter junk email, I don't have any junk email in my junk email folder, I don't have any whitelisted or blacklisted email addresses.

I'm stumped. Any help much appreciated.

OWA Can't send new or reply emails - "Can't Perform this Action" or "Item Could Not Be Found; May Have Been Deleted"

Hello,

I have an MS Exchange Server 2003 (v. 6.5.7638.1) running on Windows Server 2003 SE. I have several users accessing email via OWA on IE 7 when logged into a terminal server also running Windows Server 2003 SE. One user cannot send a new email or reply to a received email: Error (if no subject entered) is "Can't Perform This Action"; Error (if any subject entered) is "The Item Could Not Be Found. It May Have Been Deleted". This user can receive new emails, read & delete old/new emails, but just can't send. All was fine until last week; I had made changes to that user's Active Directory profile early in the week (Tuesday) but the user didn't report any problem until Friday. Changes made were adding another user to the mailbox rights/permissions list, and allowing FULL ACCESS.

It does seem like a user rights problem, as I can send emails on that user's account in OWA when logged into the terminal server with an administrator account. Any ideas?

OWA 2007 - First week of the year setting is missing?

Hello, Im trying to figure out how to configure "First week of the year" in OWA 2007.
The setting was there in OWA 2003 but seems to have disappeared in OWA 2007.

This affects week numbering in the calendar.
I live in Sweden, and the server is placed/configured GMT +1 for timezone.
If I choose English as language for the OWA 2007 webinterface it shows the wrong week number for the first week of the year (week 2), but if I change to Swedish it shows the correct week (week 1).

As I understand this differs from country to country, but as I mentioned before, this setting was there in OWA 2003 but is now gone in OWA 2007.
I dont think one should be forced to use the language of the timezone that the sevrer is placed in, it should be configurable as it was in OWA 2003.

This is tied to OWA only, when using Outlook 2003 or 2007 the setting is there under calendar options, and shows the correct week no matter which language version of Outlook that is installed.

All advice will be much appriciated :)

Exchange 2007 HTTP/RPC problems co-existing with Exchange 2003

I am having some issues with outlook anywhere. Currently OWA is working fine, it was giving a cert error but once I install the cert locally everything works fine. Since I needed a new certificate for exchange 2007 I choice to go with a wildcard so I can use the same cert on both servers (2003 and 2007), so I have *.company.com. In the outlook anywhere tab of the server properties in the Client access section i have the external host name as newexchange.company.com

My Outlook settings are as follows:

Use this URL to connect to my proxy server for Exchange: newexchange.company.com

Only connect to proxy servers that have this principal name in their certificate: msstd:*.exchange.com

on fast networks and on slow networks are checked and Basic Authentication is selected.

When I test from inside the office I get the prompt for username/password and I see in the connection status is attempts to use https until it excepts my password that change to TCP/IP.

When I test from outside the office I get prompt for username/password it excepts it, but then never connects to exchange.

Everything works fine for my clients still on Exchange 2003.

Outlook Anywhere logoon Problems

Hello,
My architecture is :3 serveur (Dell R610 + SAN), 2 DC/GC on windows 2008, 1 Exchange 2007 on Windows 2008 , all Exchange roles on the same Same Server. French version.
CLient Outlook 2003 configure with RPC/HTTP settings.
Host file changed on Exchange Server (TCPIP V6 issue).
It works on LAN.
When I try to connect, I receive a logon windows, after put my logon username and password, the logon windows appear...etc..etc.....

any Idea?

Outlook saying 'disconnected' intermittently

Hi I am running Outlook 2007 SP2 in cached Exchange mode.

Our mail server is Exchange 2007 SP1. I keep getting the notification that says Outlook is 'disconnected' from Exchange, then it keeps trying to connect, then it goes to 'Limited Connectivity'..

This is all whilst I am on the LAN. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot/how to fix?

Installed Outlook 2010 and it's been working perfect for about 3 weeks or so... All of a sudden I can't connect to my exchange server and I don't know why... All my services are running and everything seems to be ok. OWA works fine and email to my iphone works fine it's just Outlook. Any ideas? Was something released that broke outlook?
