Journal to public folder shows as post instead of message
We are using SBS2003 and have enables journaling. Messages are journaled to a public folder with a copy to another mailbox.
However, when we view the message in public folder, it shows as post (Discussion) instead of message. This issue only applies to mails received from external source (that is, mails that was not generated by exchange users). Mail generated by exchange users will show as message.
How do we go about correcting this issue?
We do not need envelope journaling but do require BCC journaling
History
This machine was rebuilt as the active directory was accidently deleted. We have managed to retain the exchange EDB and STM file by replacing the new EDB & STM with the original EDB & STM file
The new build uses the same domain, etc (including hardware, IP, etc) and SP2 was applies for Exhange 2003

Hi,
I agree with Amit. We do not recommend to use public folder as journal recipient.
Besides, please check the following kb which introduce registry key: Incoming defaults to IPM.Note. Please try to change the key value to 1 and then check the issue again.
Update to permit the caching of incoming SMTP messages as IPM.Note

- It is NOT recommended to use PF for journaling destination.Troubleshooting message journaling in Exchange Server 2003 and in Exchange 2000 Server-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-Question:
What is the recommended object to use as the journal recipient?
Answer:
Exchange mailboxes are the recommended journal recipients. If you decide to use a contact or custom recipient, you can create an Outlook rule to redirect this mail outside the organization. We do not recommend public folders when you are using envelope journaling. Public folders do not archive all kinds of reports. This is by design.-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-Amit Tank | MVP – Exchange Server | MCITP: EMA | MCSA: M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com

Dear Amit
Yes, I know that the ideal would be to use a contact instead of PF. But our primary purpose is to allow ALL users to search the folder for certain emails. For example user A can search for mail to/from user B should the need arises
I've tried to use contact (local user) and redirect (via delivery options in Active Directory Users & Computers/Exchange General) to a PF. The local user will receive the mail as message while the PF will shows as post (discussion)
Would be greatful for a solution
Thanks
