How to publish multiple email addresses from the same mailbox (alias) in GAL
We need to publish multiple email addresses (aliases) from the same mailbox in the GAL. We have a application that can only do mail fetching from a single mailbox so we created an alias on it for the second email address. It works ok but users cannot see the second email sddress in the GAL.
Mailbox, User Information, Name: Helpdesk - Support ***this is the text that is displayed in the GAL
Mailbox primary address: support@.... ***this is for regular support requests
Mailbox secondary address: mm@.... ***this is for material management
We would like "Helpdesk - Support" and "MM" to be displayed in the GAL
Exchange 2007 with default GAL
Outlook 2003 cached mode
Thank you

- Setting forwarder in recipient properties as per the link I gave or with transport rules in Exchange 2007 will retain the sender as it is so don't worry about auto reply....You may need to give send as permission to HelpDesk -Support on MM mailbox to configure autoreply through application...

- probabaly not possible by default, might be any script.
Raj - Yes, it is not possible with one mailbox.Possibly/Alternatively,- You need to create another mailbox with "MM" display name.- Set forwarder on MM mailbox to forward all mails to HelpDesk - Support mailbox.- So user can see two mailboxes in GAL and all mails are forwarded from MM to Helpdesk-Support so application fetch all mails from Helpdesk-Support mailbox.

MCITP: EMA | MCSA: M | Blog: http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com That does not work since the application that does mail fetching does auto replies to the sender. If it's forwarded it would reply to the forwarder not the initial requester unless there is a way to strip the header of last sender (forwarder) or unless there is a rule in outlook to forward and keep the original sender as the sender???

- quote "Setting forwarder in recipient properties as per the link"
Thank you, everything worked even the filter from Servicedesk application to auto assign based on "To" filed.
