QuestionSharing Calendar with other users works only with the permission reviewer

    Hi,

Maybe there is already a solution posted, but I didn't find it.

We are using Exchange 2007 sp1 with all outlook 2007 clients

If I want to share my calendar with other people, it works only with the permission reviewer.

If I change it to Free/busy, the user only see my calender, but there is no information in it.

I have already tried the outlook /cleanfreebusy command , but it does not work.

    Can somebody help us

    Kind regards,

    Diederd.

    Hi Diederd,

If you set the permission level as "free/busy time ", by default, the read permission is free/busy time, so the user can’t see the detail of calendar.  You can change read permission to "free/Busy time,  subject, location" or "Full details".

In this situation, I suggest you change the permission level to "free/Busy time,  subject, location" directly.

    Hi Elvis,

    This now my problem.

If I share my calender as a reviewer. My colleague can see my calendar.
If I change the permission into free/busy or Free/busy subject, location, my colleague can sees my calender but it is empty. All the appointments of my calender are not marked as busy or out of office in his calendar, although I have marked in my one.

I have also published this calender and this calendar works well. It shows all the busy and out of office information from my calendar.

We have also tested the test mail autoconfiguration with exchange and this didn't give any problems.

I hope you or somebody else can give me the golden tip.

Best regards and thanx for the reply

I'm seeing the same issue in our organization and have yet to find any definitive answers.

Our president shares his calendar out to his assistants with "change" rights with no issues.  He gives 3 others [by name] access with free/busy or even free/busy + subject + location and they only see a blank calendar.  If I create an active directory group for him and add those 3 individuals to the group, remove the individuals from his calendar and then add the group, the free/busy or the free/busy + subject + location sharing works as expected.

Just out of curiosity, create a new user group and add your shared calendar members to it.  Then give the group permissions to your calendar and remove individuals.  Then test with the reviewer with free/busy, subject & location rights.

What happens then?  I'm interested in what you find so we can compare notes.

I've found the individual permissions don't work as advertised but if a group is assigned permissions, everything works fine.  I've pulled my hair out on this one, as have a tech or two, and we have no answers except to re-work the entire AD with new groups.

I wonder what a personal distribution list in lieu of an AD group would return?  That'll be the next test on my end.

We have tried your solution, but it still doesn't work for us.

We've just spotted the same problem here but with a little more info. Free/Busy Time,Subject,Location information shows up in Actions, Group Schedules but not in the shared Calendar.

If someone is given the permission level of reviewer but then the read level is set to Free/Busy Time,Subject,Location, the Free/Busy Time,Subject,Location shows up in Actions, Group Schedules but not in the shared Calendar with the folder visible.

It would be nice to use the reviewer level and not give people access to the possibly sensitive details of meetings and appointments. It appears this Free/Busy Time,Subject,Location is meant to do but doesn't work when viewing someone's calendar.

Removing the shared calendar from the Navigation Pane and recreating it didn't help. Pressing F9, send/receive, didn't help.

    Is this feature working right?

    More Info:

After altering the settings for permissions others have to my calendar, now I can't see details in the Actions, Group Schedules view of MY OWN schedule. I only see free/busy times. If I click on a busy time it's as if I am scheduling an appointment for the first time. I can see the details for others but not my own. My calendar still works fine. I tried giving myself 'owner' level permissions and verified that I have access to view details but it isn't showing them in the Actions, Group Schedules view.
