I am getting ready to introduce a new Exchange 2007 server into my organization.  The existing Org has one Exchange 2003 server that is recieving external e-mail on port 26.  Is there anything special I need to do during or after the installation to make this work?

Exchange 2007 uses RECEIVE and SEND connectors (one for receiving mails and the other for sending mails), so it will be necessary to change the RECEIVE connector.

To reach the RECEIVE connector in the Exchange Management Console navigate to Hub Transport -> <RECEIVECONNECTORNAME> --> Properties --> Network --> Local IP Addresses (Edit Receive Connector Binding).

I assume its set to use a non-standard port because there is something else on that server that is using port 25? ( A/V or anti-spam?)
Is that something you need to duplicate on the 2007 server?

    Hi Kent,

If the Exchange 2003 is still used to receive email from remote server and reroute to Exchange 2007, I do not think that you have any further configuration after Exchange 2007.

Nevertheless, if you Exchange 2007 to receive external message directly, as Raj explained, you need to create a new Receive Connector or change Default Receive Connector to listen on port 26.

    Thanks,

    Mike
