problems with public folders after migration SBS2003 > SBS2008
- Hi all,
This weekend i started migrating from our SBS2003 server to our SBS2008 premium server.
I followed the microsoft document. http://technet.microsoft.com/nl-nl/library/cc527516(en-us,WS.10).aspx
Migrating the user mailboxes was succesfully, but the public folders are a problem.
i followed this steps:

If you are running Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 in the organization, you can use the Exchange System Manager to move the public folders.
To move Exchange Server public folders
1.
On the Source Server, to start the Exchange System Manager, in the Server Management Console navigation pane, expand Advanced Management, and then expand First Organization (Exchange).
2.
Expand Administrative Groups. If Administrative Groups is not displayed in the navigation pane, do the following:
1. Right-click DomainName (Exchange), and then click Properties.
2. In the DomainName Properties dialog box, select the Display administrative groups check box, and then click OK.
3. Restart the Server Management Console, and then repeat steps 1 and 2.
3.
Expand first administrative group, expand Servers, expand <ServerName>, expand First Storage Group, right-click Public Folder Store (<ServerName>), and then click Move All Replicas.
4.
In the Move All Replicas dialog box, click the Exchange server on the Destination Server in the drop-down menu, and then click OK.
You must wait for the next instance of public folder replication to complete before the public folder replicas are removed.
To verify that the public replication is complete, look at node “Public Folder Instances.” After all of the public folders replicas have been moved, the “Public Folder Instances” node should be empty.
To verify that all public folders have been moved to the destination server
1.
From the source server, open Exchange System Manager, expand first administrative group, expand Servers, expand ServerName, expand First Storage Group, and then expand Public Folder Store (ServerName).
2.
Click the Public Folder Instances node. After all of the public folder replicas have been moved, the “Public Folder Instances” node should be empty.
Depending upon the replication interval you have set and the amount of information that must be replicated, this process may take from several hours to days to complete.

I have about 3 public folders, with about 50MB of data.
When i start outlook on my client, i don't see any public folder.
The public folder instances on my source server is NOT empty.
In the public folder manager on the SBS2008 server i don't see the migrated folders.
After this i created a new test user with mailbox on the old SBS2003 server, and i logged in.
I see the structure of my public folders, but when i try to open a folder i get an error.
What can i do?

Have a good day, Sachin Shetty| MCP|MCTS|MCITP-EMA| - i don't get an exact error.
When i go in my outlook client (2007) to public folders my folders are gone.
I don't understand what i can do with your link :?
The only error i get on my SBS2008 server during startup, is that the service "Microsoft Exchange System Attendant" is not starting automaticly. - The microsoft exchange system attendant error i tried to solve by using this link:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvrgeneral/thread/8963cefd-cb75-440e-81d5-32c4f0e867ac
I changed the dependency settings in the register and the other tips.
I don't think my PF problem has anything to do with this.
Can somebody help me :? Check info:
1. After the Move All Replicas action, all public folder instances on the source server should be removed. Please verify it on the SBS 2003 server
2. Please go to “Properties” of the mailbox database, see if the default public folder database is set correctly
3. Please run the cmdlet below on the SBS 2008 server to check the item counts
Get-PublicFolderStatistics
4. There’s no error info about public folder during the movement, isn’t it?
5. Please run ExBPA against the SBS server for health check
Notes: This forum is for exchange related issues in a standard windows server environment. For questions about the exchange issue in the SBS environment please use the “SBS 2008” newsgroup which would be the best place for the issue

GrolschWhat’s the error info when attempting to open the public folder on the SBS 2003 server? Is there any error event logged on the SBS 2003 server?
Please go to ESM, check the item counters to verify if the items still exist in the old public folders
