Answered mobile user receive all mail on pop3 account

    I have the following configuration:

    mail domain: domain.it
    domain configured on exchange: domain.local

mailbox configuration :  mail address = username.domain.it e turn off "automatically update e-mail addresses ..."  flag on mailbox

All users of the company have been configured with address mail.dominio.it unchecking the mailbox property "automatically update e-mail addresses ..."  That way if I have external users who use the same email domain I have no problem to send messages as the authoritative domain is dominio.local.  Unfortunately I have a number of notebook users that area configured with outlook pop3 accounts (which points to domain.it) and exchange account  moving off farm. I can not work with Outlook Anywhere (port 443).  At this point, if the laptop is inside company there's no problem, and mobile user getting all the mail on mail.dominio.it (internal and external via pop). While when they are outside company, they set Outlook in offline mode,so they receive only external mail , all mail sent from users connected to the exchange to usermobile.domain.it remain on exchange.  I tried to put the check mark on "Do not show in Address Lists exchange" assuming that at this point all of the mail (both internal and external) come out through smtp, but is not so.  There is a system whereby, the directed mail for some mailbox (username.dominio.it) whereas the accepted domain that is authoritative domain.local are increasingly diverted to the external smtp and then the users downloading via pop3. Mobile users will have to be configured with exchange and the default email address on the exchange's mailbox must be username.domain.it because even if I use the default POP3 account in Outlook, under certain conditions outlook send email with exchange account (if i forward a sent mail, outlook use exchange connecto becouse it's considered an internal mail).

You have told us what you have done, but I for one do not understand what the problem is that you are trying to solve.

    the problem is the following:

when mobile user are out of company, the cannot work with outlook anywhere's modality and they set outlook in offlinemode.

If a user inside company send an email to mobile user , the mail remain on exchange (even if the authoritative domain is dominio.local), so my mobile user receive only external mail.

I hope that you understand my the problem now, scuse me for my english.

Do you have Outlook configured with two services, one for "outside mail" and the other for "inside mail"?  That is, do you have an outside POP or IMAP mail service and an inside Exchange service?  If that's the case, quit doing that and have Exchange host all your mail.  Outlook does not serve two masters well.

i use exchange account on outlook, so when user are inside company they set online exchange account  and then all mail area sync with exchange. In this way i've an automatic backup of all mail for my mobile user.

But my question is the following:

authoritative domain is dominio.local, user mail address set on exchange mailbox is username.domain.it (it's an accept domain, so it's an external domain for exchange), why exchange deliver mail to username.domain.it  like an internal mail. I think that exchange check the recipient in the GAL (tha contain accept domain and all mail address configured on mailbox) before deliver the mail. It's possibile hide mobile user from GAL?

You do not need your domain.local domain as an e-mail address, even if it is your Active Directory domain.  It can't be used for mail routing.  So I'd stop using it.  Then you configure autodiscover.domain.it, since that is the real e-mail address, to work both inside and outside.  The way to do that is to configure a split-brain DNS so that autodiscover.domain.it resolves to the internal address of the server when inside, and to the external address when outside.

If that doesn't answer your question, please clarify it some more.

    Hello,

If a user inside company send an email to mobile user , the mail remain on exchange (even if the authoritative domain is dominio.local)

Is your mobile user on the same Exchange Server (with the user inside company)?

If so, could you explain how did you configure your Exchange Server in detail?

It's possibile hide mobile user from GAL?

If these are all on the same Exchange server, you can set mobile user hide in GAL this way:

Open EMC->Recipient Configuration->Mailbox->mobile user->properties->"Hide from Exchange address lists"

    Thanks,

    Evan

I set this flag  "Hide from Exchange address lists" bus exchange ignore this flag and if i send an mail from internal to user's mobile, exchange find my mailbox and  don't use smtp connector even if the user area invisible on the GAL.

Hiding a recipient from the address book doesn't block them from receiving mail, just from being visible to those who browse the address book.  If you don't want a recipient to receive mail, remove its e-mail addresses.

Yes, "Hide from Exchange address lists" only make other users cannot see them in the GAL.

If these users are on the same Exchange Server, emails will not go through smtp connector.

Could you explain your requirements and environment in detail?

    Thanks,

    Evan
