Messages Queued for Submission High
Messages Queued for Submission High
- We are running Exchange 2007 SP1 RU9 in CCR mode on Windows Server 2003 SP2
On one cluster the send queue is high. This started at 15:30 yesterday at 66 messages and is still at 66 now.
We have 21 Storage Groups, most are at zero except the following:
SG3 @ 34
SG1 @ 22
SG17 @ 10
A failover normally clears this issue but we have seen this before (the queue was up at around 3000) and it was due to corruption in a calendar
This time the eventlogs show a high number of EXCDO warnings (eventID 8230), but nothing specifically to one mailbox
SG3 has had ESEUTIL /d run on it a few weeks ago
Is this something that anyone can help with?
Thanks

- Interesting article, thanks
1 we are running rollup 9 so we include the rollup 7 fix. therefore this is not applicable
2 i have checked permissions and full control has been set where necessary
3 I have increased the logging level - I will now wait for the issue to reoccur
4 running this command shows some users with thousands (literally!) of messages in their outbox, i guess they are using it for filing if you can believe this, something else for me to sort out....
if anyone else has any other ideas please keep posting
thanks - a Failover at the weekend cleared these counters
now the send queues are at 4 on cluster 1 and 7 on cluster 2
does anyone else in a ccr environment have this experience? - Yep, I have seen this as well. Even after applying the latest updates.
- To update, we are emptying users outboxes now and this counter has jumped up. So it is very likely related to this.
We can increased the monitoring threshold but I have noticed that when we fail over to reset the counter, the process takes over 1 minute and times out.
The databases fail to come online and we have to manually bring them online in cluster admin. (failback happens fine in around 15 seconds when the queue is at zero)
So I think it is something to be addressed not ignored, just ensure the users outboxes are empty! - The whole "emails stuck in the outbox" thing has been an ongoing issue every since Outlook/Exchange 2007 was released. I would like to see this solved as well.
