    Hi guys,

I wonder if you can help me out with this.

I have always sent smtp email via my ISP's smart host using my ISP username and pasword. Recently I changed my ISP and am now having trouble sending via my ISP.

In the Outlook POP3 settings provided by my ISP they say you need to configure the Outgoing server (smtp.virginmedia.com) with port 465 using SSL.

I have set the smart host the same as the outgoing smtp server and provided my credentials.  I have also changed the port on the send-to-internet connector to 465.  I can telnet to smtp.virginmedia.com on 465 from the edge server but email never sends and sits in the queue with:

451 4.4.0 primary target IP address responded with "421.4.4.2 unable to connect."attempted failover to alternate host, but that did not succeed.Either there are no alternate hosts, or delivery failed to all alternate host.

I'm pretty sure my self signed cert on the edge server has now expired (last 12 months by default?) so maybe I need to get another and make sure it's enabled for smtp?

    Any help would be great.

    Graham

    Hi,

Did you check the "Basic Authentication over TLS" option on the Send Connector? You can run get-sendconnector |fl command in EMS, then post the results here.

You have to renew the certificate on the Exchange server. The valid time is one year by default for the self-certificate.

    Thanks

    Allen
