Hello,
Does this issue only occur on Mac user or all the users?
If this issue only occur on MAc user, I suggest you go to check the account setup on Mac.
If these issue occur on all the users, please go to check the IMAP settings on your Exchange Server.
Thanks,
Evan

It happens on all users. I tested it on my Mac using Mac mail and on my Win 7 machine using Outlook. It looks like it is not authenitcating properly when sending. Under the IMAP properties, under Access and Authentication, i only have Basic checked. I tried a variety of different levels of access and the same error occurs. It fails almost immediately (see error below).

You need to look at the SMTP protocol/Virtual server to send email. Check those settings. E.g can you telnet from the ckient on port 25 to exch, check the restrictions on the smtp VS.

You need to verify the following for this to work correctly:
1. Since you have tested with outlook, goto the account settings, and Click on Outgoing Server tab. Make sure the Check Box "My server requires authentication" is checked. All other settings below that can be defaults.
2. On your exchange server, under SMTP Virtual server Properties -> Access tab -> Relay, Make sure the check box "Allow all computers which successfully authenticate to relay irrespective of the list above" is checked.
