OCS 2007 Standard FRONT-END Server won't start.
OCS 2007 Standard FRONT-END Server won't start.
- The server worked great for the last 11 months.
After I installed Microsoft security updates for October 13, 2009, the Front end server for OCS won't start.
This is the application event Error:
The Office Communications Server Front-End service terminated with service-specific error 3286842403 (0xC3E93C23).
The IM conferecning and telephony servers are running and working OK; it's just the front end server not starting.
These are the event errors from OCS 2007 console:

Don't know, had to uninstall them all. Couldn't afford to wait any longer.

He states the MS Crypto API security update KB974571.
Currently trying this myself
This did the trick for me. - yes KB974571 was the naughty boy for me. it works after removing it and a reboot
Thanks, it solved my problem too! :-)
- Thanks alot, helped me too!
- This helped me also, thank you very much!!!
Same problem on our server too.Removing the update solved the error .Thanks Jodrik
- This also solved my issue. Thank you!
I love when a Microsoft update breaks a Microsoft product. I can understand an update breaking a 3rd party app, but their own products?
What is the QA department doing? - The OCS Product Team has just released a blog update on this topic, and confirmed that rolling-back (or not installing) that specific patch is the only resolution (or prevention) at the moment: http://communicationsserverteam.com/archive/2009/10/14/632.aspx
Jeff Schertz, PointBridge | MVP | MCITP: Enterprise Messaging | MCTS: OCS Uninstalling the one patch I guess was better than rolling back all of the patch Tuesday patches. I hope Microsoft has some propeller heads working on patching the patch. Glad this post was available.
- Definitivamente esta solucion si funciona!
mbrenes - I have also faced the same issue & go through the steps in the following blog.
