Exchange 2007 UM with Nortel CS1000 Voicemail number not E.164

Hi all

My customer has his PBX Nortel CS1000 directly connectet with the Microsoft Exchange 2007 UM via a SIP Trunk.
All works fine, almost all...
If the User receives an Voicemail messages from an external caller the number will not be shown in an international format such as E.164. The number is always displayd without the international code such as +41 for Switzerland.
In the message header I see the SIP message in the "From" Field like this "From: <sip:44325xxxx@domain.ch;user=phone> This number will be displayed in my Voicemail as caller ID witch is not correct. The right one must be "From: <sip:+4144325xxxx@domain.ch;user=phone>.
In the Message Header "Via" Field the nummber is shown correctly. There is a string like "x-nt-e164-clid: +4144325xxxx@domain.ch;user=phone"

Exchange 2007 UM SP1

Does anyone know how the Exchange or Nortel must be configured that the numbers are shown correctly??

Powershell command/script to get UM Enabled user Display Name user based on Extensions ?

We have a lot of UM Enabled users and need a way to search by extension once in a while to find a specific um enabled mailbox and make sure the right user and extension is assigned to it.

I've tried a couple different ways of using Exchange Powershell to search for users based on extension by cant seem to get it right for some reason.

The goal is to retrieve the username/displayname based on extension. I.e. if we search for extension "1234" it will return "John Doe" and his ummailbox information.

I've tried something like this, unsuccessfully:

get-ummailbox | where { $_.Extensions -eq "1234" }

and

get-ummailbox | ForEach { If($_.Extensions -eq 1234){$.DisplayName}}

lack of P-A-I (RFC3325) support in Exchange 2010 UM

in recent Exchange 2010 UM evaluation testings, I figured out Exchange 2010 UM accept the current SIP ‘history-info’ header standard to recognize diverted number if someone is trying to leave a message.
that's a great achievement from ExCh07 UM which only supported the old/superseded Diversion-Header only) to recognize diverted number

But ... Exchange 2010 UM does not seem to support/accept ‘P-Asserted-Identity’ to identify the subscriber when a user is trying to dial into its own UM Box to listen/retrieve messages.

From my testing’s, Exch2010 only identifies the subscriber properly if subscriber number (calling-party) is sent in (old/supersede) ‘Remote-Party-ID’.

This causes an issue for subscriber access if ‘Remote-Party-ID’ is not present/missing but ‘History-info’ is used and in most newer IP-Telephony Products.
In that case, Exch2010 looks at the History-Info Header which obviously does NOT show the subscriber number (since it’s direct call, not diverted) but the UM Pilot Access Number.
(as per rfc3325, the 1st listed entry in history-info is the initial called party number (Targeted-to-URI) which is in that case the subscriber access number (pilot number)
With this, Exch2010 answers with the standard announcement ‘sorry, the person you are trying to reach does not have a valid voicemailbox in our system …).

Questions :
Since ‘Remote-Party-ID’ (draft-ietf-sip-privacy) has been supersede/replaced by the P-A-I (RFC3325), is there any intension from MSFT to support P-A-I instead ? (or better both, for backward compatibility)

Can not call personal contact

Hi All

I install exchange 2007 RTM with our own IP PBX, and I setup 4 digit dial plan, and config the access code and everything. Now, I can call in and login my mailbox, but always fail try to call my personal contact, the error prompt is "The call can not be transferred because the use does not have the valid call number". Actually, I config the business number of the contact as "12131234567", but if I config it as "1002", it would transfer.
Also, I try test in E164 type dial plan, it would transfer.

So, if my mailbox is associated with dial plan only 4 digit, I only call the contact with 4-digit business number?

i just remove the beta 3 of OCS 2007 Uk and reinstall Windows 2003 Std UK Edition from scratch

i have installed the commercial version of OCS 2007 Std UK edition and follow all the task in the setup

when i try to start all the services the front end services doesnt start anyway

How can I transfer calls to the predefined voicemail mailbox with only one greeting (without entering extention) or through the key mapping?

Auto Attendant won't play file selected

No matter which file I select for the aa to play it plays the default file. I have tried the bus hours, non-bus hours, information announcment, main menu prompt, bus hours main menu prompt, and the non-bus hours main menu prompt. I also tried the holiday greeting. I have tried this on three known working aa's and none of them will play the greeting that I select. If I browse to the folder where the custom greetings are they play just fine. Exchange is accepting them so I know the format is correct. Any help?

UM FDS sync fails

MSExchangeFDS keeps failing a sync:

ExchangeUM\0252927b-12e8-473f-81ac-1e946d08e9b7\53f70a96-ebe9-45de-9b51-a99a5e1ddc73\HD_Day.wav not found. Current synchronization task aborted.

This auto attendant was deleted but it is still looking for the file. I the same folder from the pickup folder and recreated it and then we get this:

53f70a96-ebe9-45de-9b51-a99a5e1ddc73\HD_Day.wav. Exception message: The consistency check failed. Either the remote file or the manifest is corrupted. Current file synchronization operation is aborted.

So now I am stuck

Exchange 2010 AA

I've just transitioned to Exchange 2010 and UM call flow moved over pretty easily, however the AA behavior is different. In 2007 you could bail out of the AA and dial an extension so you didn't have to go thru speech recognition. In 2010, it goes right to voicemail. Any ideas on how to change this behavior?

I know that there's an Exchange 2010 forum, but it looked to be beta only.

Exchange 2007 Fax & Cisco

Notice quite a few posts about Cisco and Exchange Fax.

From what I know only the version 7.x of CUCM supports the T.38 fax protocol.

Having said that I still seem to be having issue with this.

I have a Cisco Router with T1/PRI via H.323 to the CUCM and then when the DID hits my phone for testing i just have it forwarded to Exchange UM such that it goes directly into greeting at which time it should detect the T.38.

I have configured the SIP profile in CUCM to allow the T.38 and applied this to the SIP trunk to exchange such that the t.38 is recognized.

Not sure what else I'm missing.

Wondering if anyone else has done it with similar setup and if so can you point out what i am missing?

I've double checked all the required items in exhnage to ensure faxing is emabled on the dial plan and user's box.

The situation is this:

Some users have multiple contacts from a single company that contains the same phone number. The company in question has a main number which all their outbound calls appear as. When the UM servers answer the call to deliver either a voice mail or missed call notification, the name resolution stops at the first contact that it finds with the number in alphabetical order (last name, then first name). I understand that this behaviour is by design and is not customizable (I have been in discussions with PSS in regards to this in the past).

My question is this, knowing that there is potential for the wrong name to appear on a missed call notification or voice mail. Is it possible to turn off name lookups from the caller ID on either an individual mailbox, dial plan or server?

I am also open to any suggestions. How have other organizations been dealing with this problem?

How do I force communicator to primarily use communicator call instead of calling through PBX?

When user clicks contact and makes call, the communicator uses last used connection type communicatorcall or call to direct GSM-number. People don't realize the costsaving potential here and our IT would prefer using always the communicator call and let the destination Communicator do the potential transfer to GSM-network if the person is not available.

After rebooting my exchange server (SP2) UM has stoped playing the audio promt, but I still get informed about calls and sometimes there actually is a voicemail attached. Any ideas how I can troubleshoot this problem?

Auto-Attendant Routing

Running a full deployment of OCS R2 with no PBX, Exchange 2007.

We have enabled auto-attendant to respond to inbound calls "Dial 1 to say an employee's name, Dial 2 for the operator." If they dial 1 and say the name of the CEO, we want them transfered to the operator anyway. The CEO also has his own DID number and we do not want those calls filtered through the operator or secretary. I assume from all that I have read that call delegation would route all calls to his number to the delegate except where the person has made exemptions.

How do we map his name to dial the operator when his name is spoken to the auto-attendant?

I try to build a laboratory with exchange 2010 with child domain :

- one parent domain ROOT1 (global catalogue )
- one child domain CHILD1 (global catalogue)
- one server EXCHILD in the domain CHILD1
- one server EXROOT in the domain ROOT1

i have an infra with OCS who work correctly. with domain sip ok

i have prepare my foret and child domain with:
/PrepareLegacyExchangePermissions
/ps
/prepad /organizationname:EXCH
/preparealldomain

But i don't really understand why i have theses problemes:

- the voice access don't say when i call the voice mail "the extension XXXX don't exist", but i can leave a message and the user with the extension XXXX received correctly the message... !!

- the user who is in root domain work correctly ! and the object dialplan with ocsumutils.exe is create in the child domain... but he can't find the extension of mailbox where user are in child domain... :(

I don't really understand the infrastructure with voice mail ??? anybody are testing the child domain with UM ?

When i have creater the subscriber access i have used the ocsumutils.exe and i can see now the object in :

OU=OcsTelephonie,DC=child1,DC=root1,DC=local

OCS 2007 Access Edge Server, Service won't start!

I've been banging my head over this for days now....

I have the OCS 2007 Standard Edition server up and running on our internal network. In our DMZ I have installed an access edge server for the sole purpose of allowing remote employees to use communicator without having to VPN in. I get through the entire wizard up until starting the services. When I try to start the service through services.msc I get the following popup:

In the System Even log it logs an error from Source: Service Control Manager with Event ID: 7024 and Description:

I have 5061 opened to my internal OCS server and 443 to the outside. I have one nic in this server it is assigned the dmz address and then I also added a second IP for the external address but everything routes through my cisco firewall. I have the certificates installed from my internal enterprise root CA successfully.

Even when I had LCS 2005 I eventually gave up on the edge server but I can't this time. Please someone have some ideas....

Auto Attendant Call Routing

We recently discovered a issue with our auto attendant. We use 4 digit extensions, but some outside users have called in and dialed 5 digit extensions. When a caller does this the Auto Attendant ignores the first 4 digits it seems and only take the last digit, then treats it like a user made a key mapping selection. For example if the caller dials 22334 the auto attendants only recognizes the 4 and sends the user to the auto attendants option 4. Can anyone explain this behavior or a possible fix for this?

sending Fax to OCS users thru CUCM

I am using GW Fax connected via SIP trunk to CUCM 7.x which also has a SIP trunk going to OCS mediation server.

My users on OCS are enterprise voice enabled and have voicemail boxes configured on Exchange 2007 with SP1.

I am trying to send a fax from the Fax GW thru CUCM to an OCS user's mailbox on outlook.

For example user SimRingThree is configured on exchange with EUM extension 60053 and is enabled for UM, it's associated to UM dial Plan (OCS) that has (OCS-Policy) and points to a UM IP GW with the OCS pool FQDN. The same user is also enabled for Enterprise voice on OCS, and has the following line URI: +14085260053. It's email address and sign-in name is SimRingThree@pbxocs.com.

I have read that in order to receive fax on an enterprise enabled user you need to use a separate extension for fax and route fax calls to this extension directly to Exchange 2007 SP1 UM outside of OCS 2007. The reason being that OCS 2007 Mediation Server does not currently support T.38.

So I added a secondary extension (61053) for fax to my user in ExUM that points to a secondary UM Dial Plan (FAXOCS) with UriType=TelExtn. And have a new UM Mailbox policy associated with this UM Dial Plan called (FAXOCSPolicy). The new dial plan points to IP Gateway that has the same IP address as CUCM. The UM server hosts both dial plans. Also I added a SIP trunk directly to ExUM 2007 on CUCM, with a route pattern for 6105X.

I have configured the SIP profile in CUCM to allow the T.38 dual m line and applied this to the SIP trunk to exchange such that the t.38 is recognized.

Also I have enabled inbandfaxdetection on Exchange and double checked all the required items in exchange to ensure faxing is enabled on the dial plan and user's box.

When I dial the secondary extension (61053) from the GW fax, I get the general greeting on Exchange and Fax is not detected.

Has anyone else done this before? Have you seen this issue and can provide some insight to what might be going on?

Unified Messaging not enabled for mailbox but still receiving Voice Mails in inbox

I have a mystery....

There is a mailbox that was once enabled for UM with the incorrect number. We disabled Unified Messaging on the box but now they are still receiving Voice Mails in their inbox.

I've checked in powershell with get-mailbox "username" | fl and UMenabled is set to false. The mailbox also shows as not enabled for UM in the Exchange console.. No extensions shown in 'Email Addresses' (EUM) field.

The Voice mails that come in are sent from MS Exchange to the mailbox. Looking at the headers there is nothing indicating that the message has been forwarded from a different address..

It's attack of the phantom voice mail... has seen anything like this before?

one of our users has an problem when dending mail to an external domain, after sending the mail he get this Error:

filter1-til.mf.surf.net #550 5.7.

I did try to send an mail from my own outlook but I also get the This Error:

gwia-round-robin.avans.nl #<gwia-round-robin.avans.nl #5.1.1 SMTP; 550 No such recipient> #SMTP#

Any idea why is this heppening?

Hi all

A customer called me and told me about this issue.
On Monday 30.03.2009 he found that Exchange 2007 Auto Attendant Schedule Time had
just shifted forward one hour.

This is certainly caused by the Daylight Saving that here in Switzerland started on
Sun, 29 of mars 2009 and shifted clock time one hour forward.

The server clock was shifted forward correctly, but it changed also the time schedule of every Auto Attendant in Exchange 2007 UM.
This caused problems to incoming phone calls from the PBX that uses Exchange
2007 AA.

Anyone who can help?

Desktop faxing with Cisco Callmanager 7.x and Exchange 2007 SP1

First I cannot find any documentation as to how one would setup desktop faxing with CCM and Exchange 2007 SP1. I am not talking about enabling and configuring faxing in Exchange 2007, I mean a full on write up with all the configuration necessary on CCM also. If anyone has that resource I would appreciate that.

Secondly has anyone ever had success getting desktop faxing functional with these two products. I know that exchange 2007 sp1 and CCM (CUCM) 7.0 or higher should be able to work but I haven't heard one success story yet with this type of setup.

Everything is working fine, when I create the message and save that, but I cannot set the "sent" or "received" date because getting the next error message: "Set action is invalid for property." . Inbound faxing

We are replacing our Interetel PBX with a new Mitel 5000 system. The old system provided inbound faxing to our users Outlook inboxes, each user has their own fax number. However, we are not purchaing UM for the Mitel due to the cost and that we only need a few users to receive faxes. We do not need to send faxes. The Mitel 5000 is an IP capable PBX, but apparently does not integrate directly with Exchange 2007 UM, so I assume I need some kind of IP or SIP gateway. I have read a lot of the Technet articles, but I am still unclear if inbound faxing is possible using the Mitel and Exchange 2007, or what the additional piece is I need to make this work. And again, the only service we need from Exchange 2007 UM is inbound faxing.

I'm getting the error in the title when I try to use the call on phone feature. I configured our OCS R2 enterprise pool as ip gateway, though I never even see an INVITE in the UM eventlog (all event logging it turned up to expert level), and running an S4/SipStack trace on the OCS shows that no INVITE even gets there.. so somewhere between the UM server and OCS the INVITE is stopped dead.

Any ideas what could be going wrong / where to look for further details?

Forwarded Call with wrong source number

We use ocs and mediant 1000 as a gateway. If we forward a call from communicator client to a mobile phone, the source number is our companies number a not the number of the caller who actually initiates the call. how can we configure ocs or mediant to show the original callers number.

Hi,

We have changed the voice mail codec setting on a mailbox from .wma to G.711 using the command set-UMMailbox <user mailbox name> -CallAnsweringAudioCodec g711 and the user now gets a .wav file instead of a .wma file whenever a voice mail is left for him.

The problem we have however is that when someone replies to one of his emails using outlook voice access he gets a .wma file. Is it possible to change this also so that he gets a .wav file like he does when someone leaves a voice mail? I know I can change the setting globally on the dial plan, however I want to do this on a per user basis.

If it is possible what is the shell command I need to run?

Dial Restrictions & E.164 numbers

Has anybody gotten the following to work:

Allow national calls in E.164 to pass but block international calls in E.164 format? I need a call to +41 XX XXX XX XX to pass as national call, but calls to + followed by anything but 41 should not be allowed.
It's not possible to put the + into a Dial Rule... and */* lets everything pass.

Voip systems that can connect to Communicator 2007 ? Cisco UC500, nec ux5000 etc? T1 lines?

Our company is looking to get a new phone system for our new location we are moving to.

Though not critical, we were hoping the new system was VOIP capable and could tie into Office Communications Server 2007 R2.. but we arent clear what hardware would make that possible.

Also.. ideally, we wouldnt need a T1 line, or could use FIOS or be just an isolated IP network (single office location)..

It is my understanding, from one vendor that the Cisco UC500 will integrate with 2007 Communicator without any extra gateways.. Is this correct.? We just need a how ever many person UC500 unit right?

They are also telling us we need to buy the 1.5Mbit T1 line from them.. Is this true?

How does this compare to say the NEC UC5000?

Should we also completely segregate our data network switches from the VOIP switches (in house ones)?

Most of these systems like the ux5000 seem to start around $12-$17000 for roughly 35 phones, i'm imagining the cisco solution is more, if it includes a necessary gateway to interface with Communicator.

OCS Standard 2007 front-end server won't start

Our OCS server was working GREAT for almost 1 year.
Out of the sudden, after installing October 2009 Microsoft updates, OCS front-end server won't start.

Excat event ID Error:

The Office Communications Server Front-End service terminated with service-specific error 3286842403 (0xC3E93C23).

This is the event error from OCS:

The service is shutting down due to an internal error.

Error Code: C3E93C23 (SIPPROXY_E_INVALID_INSTALLATION_DATA)
Resolution:
Check the previous event log entries and resolve them. Restart the server. If the problem persists contact Product Support Services.

time stamp wrong..

A user is receiving voicemails that have an incorrect time stamp when he retrieves them from his deskphone. They're off by three hours (early.) The time stamp on the same message in his Outlook inbox is correct. I just checked my own voicemail and the time stamp is correct whether i retrieve it from my phone or from Outlook.

I verified that this is happening to him regardless of where the call comes from (from another internal extension, or an outside caller.)

Anyone seen this before?

Ex2k7 SP1, latest service rollups installed. Client is Outlook 2k7, SP2.

OCS 2007 Standard FRONT-END Server won't start.

The server worked great for the last 11 months.
After I installed Microsoft security updates for October 13, 2009, the Front end server for OCS won't start.

This is the application event Error:

The Office Communications Server Front-End service terminated with service-specific error 3286842403 (0xC3E93C23).

The IM conferecning and telephony servers are running and working OK; it's just the front end server not starting.

You have 3 places to add in dial restrictions. On the "UM Dial plan", "UM Mailbox Policies" and "UM Auto Attendants".

Why are there 3 areas to enter dial restrictions and what is the order they are searched?

Hi,

I have a system setup so inbound callers only can leave voice messages after selecting first/last name of an receipient.

Can I get a list of Caller-IDs for incomming calls that hangsup or is unable to select a correct receipient?

The idea is to see how much calls/voice messages we miss and from who using the Caller-ID.

Is it possible to record the call from AutoAttendant answer to hangup to get an idea why the callers miss on names and send it to the administrator?
