Folder Redirection Error on Windows 7, Not XP | Windows Server 2008

    Question

  • Hi all-

I have a problem with folder redirection (setting up documents, pics, etc to save automatically onto a server) on Windows 7. The Group Policy never applies on any on the Windows 7 computers (always "fails"), but works on the XP machines. Upon trying to manually mapping the documents folder to the home drive I get the error that "the network location cannot be added because it is not indexed". I am not sure how to index the home drive though. According to Microsoft's help thing, I could make the files available offline and that would index it, but I don't want to do that because it would create multiple copies of files which would just be a pain.

SO- How does one index a network location through group policy on Server 2008 R2 Standard?

    Thanks,
    Sam
