    Question

  • Is there a way to remove a maintenance window temporarily. In a nutshell, I would like to add a machine to a collection. This collection will temporarily allowing  any outstanding code to download & install. I would then remove this machine from the collection and it would revert back to the predetermined maintenance window it originally had.. Any ideas?

  • Not exactly.

Assuming your goal is to make all outstanding deployments/advertisements targeted at this collection execute on a single system, the best way to achieve this is to put the system in that collection and to create an additional collection and also put the system into this collection. Then apply a 24-hour MW to this collection. Done. When all of the deployments/adverts have execute on the system, you can delete the collection.

The key here is that MWs are assigned to systems based on collections but are not in any way specific to only the deployments/adverts on that collection. MWs targeted to a client are interpreted by that client and effective for every deployment/advert targeted to that client -- clients have zero concept of collections, what collections that they are in, what collection was used to apply the MW, or what collection was used to target adverts/deployments.
