  • There is no Search Results page layout in Foundation.  There are no page layouts at all in Foundation since Foundation doesn't have Publishing.  You'll need to pick one of the web part pages and add the search web parts to the page or use SharePoint Designer to copy one of the result pages already in the Basic Search Center.

  • To turn on the dropdown in the search box web part, in Foundation, you need to create a Basic Search Center and edit the Site Collection or Site Search Settings to point to that for its Result pages.  To get anything beyond the default settings in the drop down you'll also need to create custom pages in the Search Center and add entries to the two link lists in the Search Center (I don't remember the exact names but you'll find them in the Site Contents of the Search Center).

Most of the Blogs document the way to do it in SharePoint Server by editing Search Navigation in the Search Settings.  This doesn't exist in Foundation.

  • Thanks,

that what i thaught to do, but what affaect the values which will be shown at the dropdown menu? (i wanted to set there some result sources, and when the user clicks he gets the right results page).

In addition - it seems that in the basic center no Pages library already exists (but the lists of tabs does exist). Should i create one?

  • You can't create a Pages Library since that requires Publishing and this is Foundation.  You need to create a page in a regular document library or Site pages and then reference it in the list.  You can accomplish pretty much the same thing as in SharePoint Server but its much more manual.

  • I try to do so but when create a regular Document Library i don't get the Search Results Page Layout as in the OOB Results page. Any way to get it?

i didn't get the point of puting the menu "turn the dropdown on" in the Foundation  - it seems that there is that capability, but how to use it... it doesn't clear in the menus
