    Hi Tarni,

SQL Server Configuration Manager retrieve the service information from Windows Management Instrumentation, could you please try to restart the WMI from Windows Services?

If there are any progress, please feel free to let me know.

    Thanks,
    Weilin Qiao

  • If you are Windows server 2008 or Windows 7 , have you tried to open the SQL server configuration manager with Run as Administrator option ?
    Thanks, Leks

It is possible the installation went wrong, do you connect succsfully to the server? Everything else works OK?

  • I am dealing with the same issue. However I have restarted the WMI services and started the WMI Performance Adapter and I am still receiving this error. Any other possibilities?

  • Hello Weilin,

What are the effects of restarting this service on the SQL cluster and databases? Do i have to bring all instances down before restaring this service?

  • Hi,

I am getting same error on SQL 2008 R2 "The server threw an exception. [0x80010105]   " and when I restart the WMI service I am getting another error "the object invoked has disconnected from its clients 0x80010108"

And on Event viewer I am getting below error message.

"Event filter with query "select * from __instancecreationevent within 60 where targetinstance isa "win32_service" and targetinstance.name="msmpsvc"" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/cimv2" because of error 0x80041010. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected."

    Thanks.
