Where is the SQL Server 2014 interface on Windows 8.1?

    Question

  • I bought and install SQLServer 2014 on my Windows 8.1 Pro machine. I installed SQLdatabase tools. I can not find shortcuts or icons to any type of interface  for either one.

  • Hi

If you press the windows key and type in SQL what does it find on the right hand side?

Hope this helps. Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

  • Hi Don,

I have done the exact same thing.

My shortcuts are in the following location; - C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Microsoft SQL Server 2014.

You should be able to find these short cuts as Ed instructed.

You may also want to install SSDT if you havn't already done so; -

Please note the SSDT is 32bit even if your have Windows 8.1 and SQL 2014 64 bit.

    Kind Regards,

    Kieran.

  • Did you finish the installation with all the tools? If yes, try typing SSMS in the Windows search.
