Failure to connect one Service Manager Console to the server

    Question

  • I have just one Service Manager Console PC that will not connect to the server.  The user cannot connect to either the prod or the dev server.  The problem isn't the user account as he's able to connect from a different PC.  The problem appears local to the one PC.  When he tries to connect he gets the error below.  This is happening on just the one PC.   All other users are fine.  Any ideas on what the cause/fix is for this?  The error looks like a timeout error, but I dont' see why just this one PC would be affected.  He's on the local LAN like everyone else.  Thanks!

  • Hi,

can you try to make a telnet connection to vmsmc:5724 - just to test if the client is able to connect on port 5724 to the management server.

  • That test passed, thanks.  We're now thinking there's possibly something that didn't get installed correctly for one of the prerequisites on his PC.  I've since found out the PC has some other issues as is slated to get re-imaged.  That should take care of it.  Thanks for the reply.

  • Hi,

I am facing the same problem. did you know how to fix it?

  • Not exactly, but they reimaged his PC and that cleared it up.  There was never anything wrong with his account.  There was just something wrong with his PC.
