Activating with KMS/Understanding KMS

    Question

  • Hi Everyone, this is my first time using KMS so sorry for my ignorance.

I setup a KMS on a non DC, just a member server.  I had a lot of servers that needed to be activated and they wall say activated.

    when I run

    C:\Windows\system32>cscript.exe slmgr.vbs /dlv

    I get this:

Key Management Service is enabled on this machine
        Current count: 0
        Listening on Port: 1688
        DNS publishing enabled
        KMS priority: Normal

Key Management Service cumulative requests received from clients
        Total requests received: 0
        Failed requests received: 0
Requests with License Status Unlicensed: 0
Requests with License Status Licensed: 0
Requests with License Status Initial grace period: 0
Requests with License Status License expired or Hardware out of tolerance: 0

Requests with License Status Non-genuine grace period: 0
Requests with License Status Notification: 0

since I have servers that are now active shouldn't I see some requests received and licensed?

My second question is I followed the article (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn385356.aspx) to setup my KMS for office 2013.  everything activated properly but now my windows 7 box that had a trial version of office and is expired doesn't seem to be activating.  shouldn't I just be able to close office and re-open it and everything should activate?

    Thank you,
