Saving a single Visio File creates a 40MB file

    Question

  • I have a file that contains minimal graphics and some diagrams.   After saving the file it is huge that it can't be emailed and takes for ever to open/save

How can I see why it is so large?

  • Hi,

    What's you email account type?

For Internet email account (POP3, IMAP, HTTP), Outlook 2013 has a default attachment size limit of 20 megabytes (20480 KB) for Internet email accounts.
For Microsoft Exchange Server email account, the limit of the attachments is greater than 10 MB (10240 KB). This attachment limit is not related to the limit in Outlook 2013 for Internet email accounts. This limit for an Exchange mailbox stems from the Maximum send size setting that is configured in the Transport Settings Properties dialog box by the Exchange administrator.

For the steps to modify the default attachment limit depend on the type of email account that you are using with Outlook 2013, please refer to the following link:

  • Which template did you use to create the document?  Did you just use instances of master from a stencil (if so which ones) or just create your own shapes?  Did you use/insert any images (if so how big were those image files) and did you duplicate / copy and paste those image based shapes?

    Best regards

    John
