Forefront installation issues
- Hi,
Unlucky, I'm facing a problem during the installation of Forefront for office communication server. When i install it, it's seems like very normal, but finally, it show "The installation failed, and the rollback has been performed. --> System error." and have Event ID: 11001 Source: MsiInstaller error shown on Application log.
The event 11001
The description for Event ID ( 11001 ) in Source ( MsiInstaller ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Product: Microsoft Forefront Security for Office Communications Server -- Error 1001. The installation failed, and the rollback has been performed. --> System error., (NULL), (NULL), (NULL).
any suggestion or idea?
Thanks
Andy

Andy,
Could you provide some additional context about the issue?
What server role are you installing on?
Are you using any of the options during the install process (i.e. specifying a director role, proxy settings, etc.)?
I'll look forward to your response.

Forefront Server Security
Hello Andy,
Are you still experiencing issues with the FSOCS install? Can you send us the install logs that get generated by default when you run the installer?
Locating the FSOCS Installer Log Files
The main log file is named “fso.msi.installlog” and will be written to the root of the hard drive. Two additional log files get generated if you make if far enough along the install process. These two log files will be written to the “\Program Files\Microsoft Forefront Security\Office Communications Server” folder and named “Forefront.RTCProxy.Installlog” and “Microsoft.FSO.InstallationHelper.Installog”
Sending the Files to the FSOCS Team and Microsoft
One way you can send us these log files is to use the FSOCS site on Microsoft Connect (https://connect.microsoft.com/feedback/default.aspx?SiteID=101). Navigate to the feedback section and open a bug, there will be an option for you to attach the log files. As long as you're a registered user on Connect, you will be able to submit a bug.
Please respond to this thread if you have any additional questions on this.
Thanks,Molly
