Our hosting standard is to have McAfee installed on all the servers. We need to use Forefront for the SharePoint application on MOSS 2007/Win2003.
Will there be a contention between the Host/Server using Macfee and the SharePoint Application hosted on the server using Forefront?

Forget forefront, we had to remove it from our MOSS 2007 farm because it deleted Email attachments as Email Enabled Document Libraries were receiving Documents via Email. Microsoft premier support informed me that it wasn't possible to stop Forefront from doing that -- it's full of problems and no way to levy the engine rules. We're trying to get all of our money back from Microsoft from the purchase of ForeFront.

In the meantime, we have found that McAfee has a SharePoint Portal Anti-Virus package and it is a suitable (better - advised) replacement: http://www.mcafee.com/us/enterprise/products/system_security/servers/security_microsoft_sharepoint.html

Hi Satcap,

If you are referring to file system level AV protection from McAfee, you can find a list of Forefront exclusions in this KB article:
Folders to exclude when you perform a file-level antivirus scan on a server operating system
Setting up these exclusions will avoid potentital contention between the 2 products.

Thanks for the response.
We have McAfee Portal Shield installed but the corporate direction is to use Forefront. I never heard this issue before. Can you please elaborate on that?
