Can you please elaborate on how you have published your application(s)?
As I read the above, you have a main site (www.contoso.com) that you can access and you can access the subsites (subsite.contoso.com) as long as you start at the main site - correct?
If you try to access a subsite (subsite.contoso.com) directly, it fails.
Am I close?

Yes Excatly what you said.
I have selected other web application (portal host name) in application publishing wizard and in webserver field given the server name where the website is running(did not mention anything in path) and the website login url(eg:http://XXXX/XXX/login/mgLogin.jsp?inline=true) in appliaction URL at the end.

It looks like We have published only the login URL,so only the Login URl will be accessible and the subsite url inside the parent website will not be accessible. Is there any way to publish the web application or entire web URL,
Any other thoughts or help or suggestion would be higly appreciated..
Thanks..

I would see if adding the other apps (subsites) to the portal as application specific hostnames helps and change the publishing of the main site to app specific as well.

Thanks for Reply Janson,
Still we need separate publish DNS name for each apps(subsite) publish it to portal to access it directly from inernet.
What I am tring to acheving here is once the UAG published the home web page and accessible from internet(which is working fine in my case) all the subsite or subsequent URL which works directly from internal should be accessible from the internet directly,is there any way to publish the web application in UAG

You need to publish using application specific hostnames, not portal host name. Repeat and rinse for each name (e.g. sub1.contoso.com, sub2.contoso.com) you would like to be accessible directly.
For a bit of details on this and now it works, see http://blogs.technet.com/b/ben/archive/2012/04/28/what-s-the-deal-with-public-host-name.aspx.
